Lucky

Since Lucky is closing in on 13 years old I took her to the vet to see her bloodwork. The vet came back to me on her blood and I quote 'She is super normal' lol. So I expect she is going to be around for quite awhile

The vet and the techs were all in love with her. Apparently they only get snakes in that have attitude. So when I told them I was bringing in an 8' boa they were apparently expecting a struggle and possibly dodge the teeth. Instead they were able to manhandle her and poke around in her mouth without her even coming close to biting.

And when they took her to the back for blood they took the bag I guess expecting to have to stuff an angry snake in after stabbing her with a needle. Apparently she just let them roll her over and poke her then just went back to exploring and trying to climb the humans. Instead of a bagged snake coming back to me she was on the techs shoulder and they were oohing and ahhing over her like she was a cuddly fluffy animal instead of a snake

Vet mentioned wanting to use her in their occasional educational programs that they do. Told her if they want her it's no problem! If they ask I'm sure I can come up with a couple others for them too. I expect my albino beauty male would do just as good and the young female retic if they can get the permits for it. They actually borrow some of the shelter birds when they do these too.

They were a little too surprised by her iridescent look...little worried about the quality of care the other boa patients are getting from their owners if that's unusual to see:smile031:

That's great to hear that Lucky's bloodwork came back "super normal"! I'm sure you take better care of all your animals than a lot of people out there do with exotics. What is the life expectancy? How much does Lucky weigh at 8'? Still growing? Isn't Catty pretty large too?

Average is 20-30 years though they can live longer. For how many of these that have been sold I really don't see many older ones around. She is about 22lbs though she always feels heavier since it's an awkward to hold 22lbs lol. They grow through their life so if she lives to be 30 she may very well slap on another foot to her size but they grow really slow after the first 3-4 years.

Catty is smaller. She's a ball python and probably around 4ft or so. Need to get recent pictures of that one.

Lucky is just stunning, and does look so incredibly healthy. How awesome to see her baby pics as well! I'm so glad she checked out well, Victoria, but knowing how you care for all your babies I am not in the least bit surprised

Thanks for the pics Jen . Look how tiny Lucky was! Really pretty juvenile colors. It's surprising you don't hear of too many big RTBs as popular as they are and have been for a long time. Interesting that they just keep on growing.

It did that twice, I posted two pics of Catty first time and one was the pastel.... what I get doing this on my phone. Have pics of beardies and first Robin too and George when he was tiny little beardie.
