My poor bunny has cancer again :(

Hazel was a shelter bunny, after retiring from being a show bunny she ended up needing a new home. We adopted her last year and she had to have surgery to remove cancer in her reproductive areas. Recently, she has stopped eating and can't pee or poo without help. We have to pick her up to kinda help her squeeze it out. She went to the vet today and the cancer is back and we don't expect her to live more than another week or so. they said surgery is most likely a fatal option. We think she is between 7-9 years old so she has had a long life but we will miss her.

I personally don't want to put her to sleep, I want her to spend her last days with us getting spoiled rotten. The pain should be able to be managed with meds, I hope, and we will have to continue to help her relieve herself. Do you think it is selfish to let her live out the rest of her days with us or should we put her down? There's no way to tell how much pain she is in as she has that prey mentality like parrots, gotta look healthy or a predator will take advantage... Thoughts?

Wow.
Well, first off... much respect to you for caring so deeply and unselfishly. Hazel is lucky to have you making decisions for her.
I GUESS I would probably put her to sleep, lovingly held. I worry that, yeah, who knows how much pain she is in, and it sounds painful not to pee and poo without squeezing.
But you know what? Follow your gut. You know and love this little bunny.
Thank you for sharing Hazel with us.

P.S.
She is BEAUTIFUL. Look at those ears! Precious.

Thank you. Just wish we were able to give her many more years. I guess we will see how the week goes before making a decision.

Had to put her down yesterday. She took a turn for the worst and although still awake and moving around, she just would lay down and rest, barely eating, wouldnt drink, losing probably half her weight and no more pee or poos. I said goodbye and she slipped away. I don't ever want to do that again.

heres some pics in rememberance. The ones with the green wall background was when we picked her up from the shelter last year.

I have one Umbrella, a Bare Eye, and two budgies.
I love rabbits and I am so sorry for your loss.

I personally have allowed my ailing cats to come home with me in their final days. Only one cat I had euthanized and that was because his final moments would be mimicking the feeling of being smothered by a pillow.

You have to know your fur baby and what is right for them. In Rose's case you absolutely did the right thing and I know she is grateful.
