So, since Christy and I are trying to clear up a lot of our debt and we are trying to save for a wedding (and all the other stuff that comes along with "growing-up") I have decided to take a second job. This is where the issue comes in (and I would like some input from all of you), I have two opportunities that have presented themselves before me.

Opportunity #1 - is with a job that I have had before. I know the job, I know the requirements, I know everything about the field. I like 99% of the people who work there, and talk to most of them on a regular basis (heck, I play golf with the Boss).

Opportunity #2 - is with a new company, kinda in the same field. I know a lot about the company and the products/services. I don't know any of the people who work there, BUT the opportunity to make more money (working fewer hours) is greater here than it is at the other.

So, in all of your opinions, should I go back to a previous job (where I have had some great success) or should I set forth on a venture in which the success could far out weigh the effort needed to gain new knowledge ...

I vote on the new job! You need to take risks to get rewards...and think about the worst case scenario: you absolutely HATE everything about it and dread getting up and going there everyday (not to be too pessimistic; I doubt it would ever be that bad from what you said): you can always give your two weeks notice and either go back to the comfortable job, assuming there are still spots left, or you could find something else. But I bet you would like the new job a lot and would be happy with your decision in the end. Plus, less hours working means more hours on the forum with us! :D

My input for what its worth

#1, Safe, you know the people, like and get on with most of them

#2 New adventure, less working hours more money,

Well in that case, I think I would have to go with #2 for the simple fact that as its a second job you get more money for less hours, and lets face it saving for a wedding is great but you also need to be able to spend some time with Christy & Ham. (I'm not saying that either would be neglected, but you don't want to be too tired to enjoy their company.) Also with a second job if you really do hate it, you can always quit and be no worse off, then look round for something else.

Don't take on too much too quickly, its just not worth it. Really it isn't. Things will work out in the end.
*motherly chat over*

Good Luck to ya Tex, let us know what you decide.

That's really funny! But, you need not worry about that, you are talking to someone who is used to working full-time (40+ hours) and going to school, and keeping Christy happy and doing all the other things that I do (sports and whatnot). I think I have a complete grasp on my limitations. This isn't an issue for me, but the advice was much wanted! :D

Oh, I see how it is, you guys just want to keep me around ... I feel so loved ... :07: ... hey, wait a minute, with that in mind, how do I know you aren't giving me bad advice hoping that it doesn't work out and then you all get me to your selves again?! :D

For right now, I am not in school ... I don't have to worry about that AND now that Christy and I are "cohabitating" it's a lot easier than it was when we were living about an hour away from each other ... my "running around" time has been dramatically cut down ... :30:

I would go with the new job. Meet some new people. I mean, you could try it for a few months and if it doesn't work out i'm sure they'd let you back at your previous job. Since you said you are freinds with the employees AND BOSS. Plus You'd make more money, and you'd still have more time with Hamlet. Thats just my thaughts, get out, meet new people, try out different companies/jobs, if its not successful go back to the 1st.

Well, look at it this way:

If you try the new job, you will meet new people, try new things, and earn more money. If you take the job and end up hating it, you can always go back to the second one, right?

and you'd still have more time with Hamlet.

AND Christy.

I vote for going with job #2. Especially with it being a second job. People get them because they need $$$. The faster you can make money, then the better. And of course, if you find that it isn't for you, there's still the possibility of job #1.

P.S. I think Hamlet should be the ring bearer. That's a video I'd like to see....the whole wedding party running around the church trying to catch him. It'd make for a pretty memorable wedding :D

Oh yeah a forum wedding, it will be our first, I'll be the wedding organiser, (I've always wanted to that:D ) We have some designers here. Guys and Gals forget the hatchday banner start designing wedding dresses and wedding suits. Just tell us what you want to do and we'll organise it. :D

See Tex, now you can forget the second job, you don't need the extra money for the wedding we'll do it for free. :D

I speak for both of us when we I say we are flattered with the offer ... and to be surrounded by many, many friends we would love to celebrate ... but unless we have a Florist, Baker, Photographer, Pastor/Officiant and, most importantly, a BAR TENDER (I'm Irish) we can't celebrate here ... you are, however, all invited ... :54:... oh, wait ... I better check with Christy before I finish that sentence ...

LOL I have taught Popsicle to walk to me with rings, thought it would be cute. But I can't seem to get her to put her little ball in the basketball hoop.
Oh my.

Tex did you get a new friend for Hamlet. I've been a bit out of the loop lately, so busy.
