I've had a great time but with school starting i just can't do it anymore as with recent issues I just don't enjoy it anymore. I've learned a lot but I need to get my prioritess straightened out. Thanks for the good times! Peta you're the best.

Once one person leaves over this, a lot of people are going to start filtering out. Please don't go over these fights, we all should stick together. I'm really sick of all the crap that's been going on as well, but I think that it will soon pass. I also think that we need to be a little more reserved with deleted posts and locked threads. The censoring on here is also getting out of hand. We all need to work together and reach a compromise where everyone wins.

Birdcrazy, I understand school priorities, I just got a teaching degree, so I encourage that :) :) but don't leave all together. Please stop by every once in a while to catch up. We will be very curious how your birdies are getting on. And you too. Don't leave

Minzer your right. Is this still happy/hat slinky issue? Gee Wizz!!!
WE just have to agree that each knows their bird best, and offer advice without forcing opinions.

Man.......... This day has been sucky.

What happened was bad, and I was a part of it. Slinkys like onions were a point of conversation today with my vet. For the record:

A slinky and slinky's have been used to help birds recover from foot injuries. Slinky's have also caused harm to birds. Consequently, it's a good toy and a bad toy. IN NO WAY are Tex and Christy bad people because it's a toy they give their fids. Additionally, if it works, IN NO WAY are they bad for finding a new fid toy. Like any toy, there are goods and bads and what's right for your fids. My fid is more like a tarzan with anything swing like and other fids are more docile. Mine with a slinky is an accident waiting to happen - that doesn't make it dangerous for other fids who aren't like mine and can benefit from it. Tex and Christy are using the right thing by their fids. I don't question their judgment.

At the same time, the onion issue. A raw onion in any form is not something to feed a fid, a cooked onion slice is a fine.

Some of us may be newbies to parrots or newbies to this forum but the overwhelming factor is that we are devoted to our fids. I'm a newbie to this forum but I learned a whelp of a feather smack from the slinky episode (of which, I take full responsibility).

At the same time, there's a lot of questions, wit, and wisdom that's here at these forums. We can't 'communicate' and clear things up like it would be done because the writing is as such where perception is left to the reader.

I have a feeling that much of what happened isn't just 'slinkygate.' I really do take the responsibility for what happened there but I also think there were other outstanding things happening there.

I also don't think all should be aired out on the forums. At some risk for over-stepping my bounds would it be reasonable to air out the issues via PM until Wednesday at midnight EST?

Yep, Minz, you're right. NZ, you, too.

I don't think there is (correct me if I am wrong) disagreement in that a topic should be able to be discussed fairly, openmindedly and courteously. We can always agree to disagree.

Disagreement in this case (to me, anyway) comes when a member(s) are forcing their opinions on someone/or the Forum in general, when someone is clearly antagonistic, beligerent, inconsiderate, insultive ... shall I continue?

Kelli, it is my hope that you do not leave the Forum. You have enriched us with your stories, your pictures and being who you are.

As for me, I think I'll stick around to bug the snot out of Tex. :p :p :p :p :p ... bugging the snot out of people I tend to excel at. :D

Look,..I think we can all agree that Peta is the problem here.
If only she wasn't so damned opinionated.

I think you should all have me vet your posts in future, and from now I on, I want you all to address me as RedBalloon, voice of reason.

just to upset you all, I am going to make happy huts,...out of slinkies, and sell them on my new bird hypnotizing web-page.

no one's leaving ... everyone's staying ... we all love each other ... big love fest (hey, speaking of which, where's Indigo? What's a love fest without our resident flirt?)

I am getting too many Private Messages to answer them all right now ... I'm not going anywhere, we will all discuss freely, Peta and I don't want to delete posts, but just don't give us reason to. If your post personally attacks, flames, or fishes for a flame (ahem ... you know who you are) your post will be deleted from here on out ...

These are the ground rules that everyone agrees to when you sign up, if you have an issue with these rules, take it up with BlackNova ... but don't blame Peta or I, we are just out here enforcing these rules and really, with the lot of you, it's a thankless job! :18:

I am off to bed, good night, and all of you behave!

:50:

P.S. Flyte, I know that there are only a couple of staples holding them in, but I'm not coming over to rip your guts out just because it would be easy! :18:

Okokok, I'm not looking for a fight, but how does saying something like "you know who you are", then quoting yourself again, not qualify as fishing for a flame as well?? I'm sorry Tex, I'm not against you and I'm not mad at you, etc etc, but just look at what you said.

She makes a good point.
So rarely does the voice of sense emanate from from the female noise maker.
I think we should name everyone who we consider a "trouble maker" and then shame them into line.
Tex,......get into line and stop quoting yourself,...you egomaniac.

Wow I really hate to see people arguing and fighting. What has happened here? I liked when everyone could voice a personal opinion and it was ok. We are not going to agree on everything.

As far as "dangerous toys" go everything our birds have has some sort of potential to harm them. On most of my toys it has little notices for potential harm and birds should be supervised while playing. While no my birds are not always supervised its just a risk we all take, or our birds would be pretty bored and be stuck in rubber padded cages.

Please don't leave Kelli, I enjoy your insight as well as all the pictures. I like when we were a close group. Lets get that back again. :)

I agree with you too Tracy. Kelli you're awesome, and yes school is very demanding and everyone has to have their priorities, but don't leave altogether. I enjoy your posts and pics too.
