I walked out into our living room last night and my fiance, for some strange reason, was watching the show wife swap. After that was over this show called 7 days of sex came on, and since we lost the remote to the tv and didn't want to get up to change it(I know, that is sad) we just left it on. The one couple was an older man and a younger woman and it was obvious that they had quite a bit of money. They had 4 or 5 dogs and a huge gorgeous house, then they got to a scene where they showed their bedroom. Big nice master bedroom but on the one end table was a cockatiel sized caged that I could have swore had a rose breasted cockatoo in it! I looked to Nick and said, "was there a cockatoo in that tiny cage?!", he didn't see it so I kept watching. Come to find out that there is not only one RB2 but two of them in what I would consider a large tiel cage. It was one of the ones that was shaped like a house, probably about 2 foot by 2 foot, no toys that I could see in the cage and both too's were hanging on the side of the cage so I doubt they had appropriate perches either. Ugh, it just made me soooo mad! I've never had an RB2 before but aren't they a species that is known for needing a lot of exercise to stay healthy? I doubt the poor things could even spread their wings fully in there. I think what made me so mad about it was that it wasn't like it was a money issue and they couldn't afford a suitable enclosure, they are just ignorant and obviously didn't take two seconds to research the proper care of them. I can only assume the woman saw them and just had to have them and made her husband buy them for her. At the end of the episode the couple went to a motel and it was your average motel and the woman through a huge fit that they weren't in a nice hotel, she had never even seen a motel before! She was like, I'm used to living behind gates! This place isn't safe! *Sigh, sorry for the rant, I'm sure no one else has seen it, it's quite a stupid show and I honestly didn't even know what it was called until I just looked it up. I just hope a few other bird people saw it and send them some much needed angry letters informing them that they are not properly caring for their birds in the least.

Yeah, since i started having birds around, ive noticed things like that as well. I had posted on my FB that we were getting the rescue birds thanks to help and such and my cousin responded and said she wanted one. She has 3 small kids and never owned a bird before. I told her to go buy a cockatiel, lol.

Ugh, a friend on mine said the same thing about one of the rescue 'toos! She has budgies that she has allowed to breed, gave them no socialization what so ever, so they are all completely wild. She recently contacted me and said that she wants to sell her birds so she can "get a bigger bird that she can actually do stuff with" and it seems she is trying to find a cheap or free cockatoo. I have been nice but I really want to look at her and say, if you can't tame a budgie how in the world are you going to manage a rehomed too?!

After Chewbaca chewed the buttons off our remote, I suspended the new one on a long spring from the ceiling. Now, we always know where it is...

That's funny, when I was a teenager I always lost my remote so I finally put a string on it and tied it to the arm of my futon, everyone laughed but I never lost it again...

We actually had a nice big plasma screen tv but it belonged to our room mate and he just moved out, so now we have a small, older tv in our living room and the remote has long been lost. We are planning on getting another nice tv for out there(our living room is huge with over twenty foot ceilings so it looks a bit silly having such a small tv out there) but there are a few other things we need to take care of first, and now that it looks like we will be adopting those florida 'zons, I'd much rather spoil them than buy a new tv :09:

1 nanday conure Black Jack, 1 Brotogeris parakeet Whiff, 1 ring neck dove Eliza, and 6 society finches (3 are tame). RIP my parent pairs of societies and my little gouldian finches
thats terrible, they can obviously afford a large cage. i just hope that maybe the camera man wanted them to be put away while they were filming, but thats really unlikely and it inexcusable to have a cage that small :(
