What are you getting your bird for the winter holidays?

I know not everyone celebrates Christmas, so, if you do celebrate anything at all, what are you getting them for the winter holidays? I have a huge MSBS cart. :54: Love to see if that is a normal holiday thing for us parronts...

They usually get something food oriented at Thanksgiving and Xmas...........Down side is they always scream their beaks off when I'm cooking anything in the kitchen so those 2 days can be a tad noisier than most. :20:

here ya go, can't remember which recipe book it's from I have so many, all my favs I put into a folder on my PC in a text file so they're easy to find later. For the parrot cutout, I think I did a search on "cookie cutters", found that one and printed it out then used as a pattern for the top crust "vents". I can do my own lattice tops too but what a pain. I do take a shortcut on the crusts (buying the frozen 2-packs) since I spend so much time on everything else for 2 days. :30: I always do my pies the day before anyway.

I'll look for that parrot and see if I still have it, also throw in a few more pics

Ingredients

5 cups fresh blueberries

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 (15 ounce) packages refrigerated pie crusts (2 pie crusts)

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine

1 large eggs, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon sugar

Directions

SPRINKLE berries with lemon juice; set aside.

FIT half of pastry in a 9-inch pieplate according to package directions.

COMBINE 1 cup sugar and next 3 ingredients; add to berries, stirring well.
Pour into pastry shell, and dot with butter.

UNFOLD remaining pastry on a lightly floured surface; roll gently with rolling pin to remove creases in pastry.

Place pastry over filling; seal and crimp edges.
Cut slits in top of crust to allow steam to escape. (parrots are the "slits")

Brush top of pastry with beaten egg, and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar

BAKE at 400° for 35 minutes or until golden.

I'll look for that parrot and see if I still have it, also throw in a few more pics

WharfRat that's awesome!!!! Bella and Zora are getting 4 new toys, Oliver gets 2 HUGE ones. I wrapped them in that super thin tissue paper, so they'll have fun opening it.

Yummy ! I don't celebrate Christmas but I celebrate somthing else. Every year we got to pennsylvaina with my moms friends and we stay at a hotel, they're we celebrate and stay they're for a few days. Thought maybe I could get them a new swing as they only have one. A new swing and some birdie bread !

We're celebrating with the grand-parronts so the discomfort of the fids being in their sleep over cages will be made up for by being spoiled rotten by their granny

She made a fruitcake last year that was so pretty with frosting and icing and ribbons - i actually thought it was fake... she was pleased and a little offended at the same time :$

I'm not much of a cook, so I might take the bread out. I giving them some millet, I stopped giving it to them a month ago. Get a ton and. Put it in a basket with a bow. They love millet, I stopped giving it to them as they have a weight problem. The treats I give them now are nutriberries and avicakes .

I'm making them toys, just ordered toys parts and some leather and I'll probably try some birdie bread... umm making it, not eating it

That's my problem too, I spoil my birds every day so when it's time for holiday it's so hard to figure out what to give them.

I'm having that problem with my 20 month old daughter... my husband buys her stuff every time we go into a store lol

Odin is spoiled.. Salty is very new but working on spoiling him too and will spoil Greenie when he gets here thursday.

Grandpa is going to make Pritti a shower perch to go over the shower door.

And, I've been scouring the web for a nice tabletop play-gym for him, but I can't seem to find one I like. Looking for wood, but not like a java tree (he has a couple like that), more like one that has different levels to climb, ladder, and can hang some rings and toys and be carried from room to room without too much trouble. Most of them seem to have horizontal dowels that are pretty narrow diameter for a 14" conure's feet -- seem more like for gcc, sun, etc. (or seem way to wide).

Any suggestions? Would love to know.
