As some of you may know, and the rest of you may not, my wife is pregnant with our first child. We are expecting a late October, early November birthday ...

Christy, my wife, and I went to her 20 week check up yesterday. It seems as though she is having a text-book pregnancy and the Dr. even used the "routine" word a few times. Knowing that both my wife and our child are doing well has put my mind at ease, at least for now, until such time that I can somehow create yet another ungodly situation in my overactive mind to freak myself out again.

So, you ask why I named this thread like I did. It's a legit question and I am going to tell you. We found out the gender of the child during the ultrasound. The ultrasound technician said that she got, "three good peaks and I didn't change my mind." We also know that she has 30+ years of reading ultrasounds and ins't some "newbie" to it. She couldn't tell us that she was 100% positive (they aren't doctors or experts and they aren't in a position to say without a doubt) but her wording about "three good peaks" makes me feel that she is confident about her decision ...

IT'S A GIRL!!!

Now, do you understand why I am in trouble ...

Congrats! I'm new here but I just had to read!
My husband and I are having a boy any day now - You two are just getting to the fun parts!
I loved being 7 months pregnant. Nesting like crazy but I was comfortable and the baby was very active. Very Fun!
Boy or girl, just be (and I know you are) so greatful for a healthy pregnancy. This is my second pregnancy but first baby. This pregnancy has been very healthy and it's been such a blessing.
Love and live it up - every ounce of her pregnancy<3
PS~ After my 8th month, I loved having my belly rubbed - sounds weird but with as stretched out as it gets, it feels real good. Your wife may enjoy it too... wink wink!

YAY GIRL!!!!!!! You better get saving for clothes etc. Well actually guys also are into the brand name stuff too... but especially girls!!!! lol I reccomend you make a separate bank account strictly for clothes and you can add a little to it each month similar to education or retirement fund/account thing. And before you say not all girls are into clothes, i was a total tomboy in like early ish primary elementary school and now in highschool its like every weekend i must go to the mall! lol. But anyway congrats on the baby girl!!!!!! I think you'll be happy to hear that all the girls i've babysat before are alot more stubborn than any of the guys i've ever babysat. Just thought i'd point that out.....
Oh btw it's the guy who decides what gender it is and it's often based on his like family etc. Like if you have like 20 sisters and like 1 brother then chnaces are your going to have all girls, so like ya if you look at your dad's family and your family then you can often make a pretty geuss at what the gender is. Unless like there was one girl and one boy or something but then you look at your dad's family and like up the family tree. Ok you have to tell what names your thinking of or Christy is thinking of(Christy jr? jk.... btw this if off topic but i hate it when people name their kids their name it's like they have no creativity and too lazy to think of a new name its ok as a middle name but as a first name... blah). Anyway looking forward to October/November :D OH! Maybe she'll be a halloween baby.

Or I hear tea leaves and astrology work pretty well too. Then there's tarot cards, dice rolling, coin flipping, or just asking the kid who bags your groceries cause his random guess should be pretty accurate to.

In fact I bet any one of the above could get you the right answer 50% of the time. :)

HAHA.
I agree though, the chances of having a boy/girl is not anything you can inherit... it's a 50/50 chance... X or Y. So go ahead and flip some coins - count your money!... while you study your family tree and see the male:female ratio for no reason to look like you made a scientifically correct guess! ;)

Actually it can be theoretically inherited, but that does not happen in humans, and in most cases it is most effectively influenced by the mother (or in some interesting cases the egg cells mitochondria).

Oh, but not in humans, right?
Influenced would make sense though.
Still though... looking at the family tree wont help any more than flipping a coin... unless someday they prove that sex can be inherited/ if they are able to give you whatever gender yuou want.

Her? She's taking stupid-pills.

There is no one size fits all answer and anyone who claims there is is most likely full of it (as are most products marketed for this purpose).

If you really want to spur on mother nature you should speak to your doctor, or get a referral to a spe******t to run the appropriate tests. There are so many pieces in the puzzle that boosting individual pieces one at a time would be futile, foolish, and sometimes even dangerous. Figure out which piece isn't falling into place first, then target that with the appropriate strategy.

It's like wondering why your car wont start then remembering that your cousin had a car that wouldn't start until she changed the spark plugs, then it ran great. It would be foolish to think a quick change of your car's spark plugs was all that was needed.

Too many people are looking for quick fixes, and the fix may well be quick, but only if you figure out exactly what, if anything, needs fixing.

Congrats! Keep her away from guys like us! :)

Yes, I already have a shotgun and directions to a very deep quarry that one of my buddies (who has 3 girls himself) is offering to me after he is done with them (which, conveniently will be about the same time I will START to need them ... )

Congrats! I'm new here but I just had to read!

Good Luck to you in the next coming days ... hope all goes according to plan ... and don't feel badly if you instantly count the fingers and toes ... I hear it's completely normal ...

Also, this is my wife's second pregnancy, and our first child ... We know right were you are coming from ...

YAY GIRL!!!!!!! You better get saving for clothes ...

I was thinking sooner, like saving for a Pony ... all girls want ponies ... I don't know, I hope to get her interested in Macaws ... that way she wants a HY ... I could splurge on one of those for her ... :blue:

AD you forgot to mention that you could "cast bones" too ...

Actually it can be theoretically inherited, but that does not happen in humans, and in most cases it is most effectively influenced by the mother (or in some interesting cases the egg cells mitochondria).

Actually there has been some research done in humans that suggest that a woman's diet pre-conception COULD influence the gender of the baby by disabling certain types of characteristics, and also making her "environment" less hospitalble for "male warriors" ... in the male gamete that carries the Y chromosome which could lead to an increase in female births ... apparently at any stage of life males are easily distracted ... *lol*

I have a question.. LOL what are one of the fastest ways to get pregnant....

Aparently - me ... we only "tried" for about 2 weeks ... and don't take the "false" results you may be getting from a home test ... Christy took 5 ... that's right ladies, 5 tests that came out negative ... finally I told her to go and get a blood test ... which was POSITIVE ...

Sorry to cut this short guys, but I have a pregnancy belly to go cuddle with ...

As for a name, yes - we just came up with it ... Annaleigha Lynn ... it's not 100% official yet, we are going to "play" with it for a few days to make sure we really like it ... where'd we get it from ... her mom's middle name, my mom's middle name (Ann-a/Leigh-a) and then my wife's middle name Lynn ... and POOF a baby named after three very cool, and stong, women!

okay that's a bit ridiculous, we have an over eager censor here. My blanked out word refers to a person who specializes in a particular field, and the word incidentally contains the name of a commonly spam-advertised drug.

So you can get her pregnant but your boys can't pass a simple test even after four tries? Not the brightest are they :p

Oh, and...
I hope to get her interested in Macaws ... that way she wants a HY ... I could splurge on one of those for her

I can't spell speshulist correctly without getting censored, but you can say splurge! :11:

I am gonna get myself in trouble soon

It's automically censored ... but we can alter how the word is caught ... it should be only censored if it stands alone ... not if it appears in a word ...

We were having that issue with Cockatoo, and Cockatiel a while back, I will see what I can do ...
