So sad, so many young lives taken ,most of the victims were aged between 16 and 20 years old.
Those poor families, some lost more than one family member
All this heartache because a member of the band or its production team ignited a flare, which then set fire to the ceiling.

Apparently security guards reportedly tried to stop people leaving from the nightclub. "Five or six people knocked over one security guard and knocked down the door. It was their only way of exciting.

My prayers go out to all
May God give them peace

The security guards did try to stop people. In Brazil, most night clubs give a card to patrons and during the night they build up their tab, then pay as they leave. From reports, the security guards were stopping people thinking they were just running from their tab, and only after several people overtook them did they see the flames rising up.

Many people ran to the bathrooms thinking they were emergency exits (though the club had none.)

The videos I watched will haunt me just as the Station fire in 2003 videos do. :(
My heart goes out to the victims and their families. :(

Pepsi and sprite, both are American male budgies
So sad, so many innocent lives :( I remeber, last night me and my dad were talking about it, he also told me the same thing happened in Connecticut . Just curious, isn't it illegal to not have emergency doors in a business or something ?

Sadly, the regulations in Brazil haven't quite caught up to America. This particular club had 2,000 people crammed into it (max capacity at 1,000) and their license had actually expired in August. :(

I guess making a buck is more important to some people more so than the safety of others. Blehh. :(
