so was just wondering what every one misses most from before they welcomed their wonderful parrots into their life?

me it would be sleeping in, all was good until bruno left but since then between 6 & 6.30 prince goes off.

my partner misses being able to sit down and enjoy a sandwich in peace.

although neither of us would change it for the world

I am with your partner! :p
Fargo lets me sleep in as long as i want, but if i try and eat anything ? Forget it, he has to have some hahaha That's fine, until he isn't allowed something i am eating ;)

Also typing in peace, Fargo thinks its funny to sit on my hand calmly while i type, and then suddenly snap off a key and run away :p haha

But of course, wouldn't change it for the world!!

I miss being able to go on vacation. My sister, nieces, and parents are going to my parents time share on Kauai for 14 days Thursday morning. And we used to go on awesome road trips for 2-3 weeks and we stopped at lots of national parks.

But, I don't really mind at all. Just being around Rosie is amazing, having a parrot is a dream come true for me and I have traveled a lot around the united states and seen more than most people I know.

Definitely the freedom of being able to go away for a few days. Still if you want something, you ultimately have to give up something else; there's no such thing as a free lunch. :)

There is nothing I miss at all honestly
Since having Mishka in my life, my life is fulfilled.
Just sitting spending the day with Mishka.... what more could I ask for.
He is my free entertainment channel, my companion and my de-stresser
I would not even exchange Mishka for Brad Pitt for one night.

My birds are not just my whole life, they make my life whole. I guess that I really am "that crazy guy with all those birds"! And have been for over 45 years. I miss nothing, want nothing else, and wouldn't have it any other way!

the ONLY drawback to bringing Gil into my life (and it is SO NOT a "drawback") is poop. haha. He does sometimes poop in pain-in-the-neck places. I should work harder to paper train him i guess.
the funny part of that is, since he will poop frequently, he is only allowed shoulder time when i wear the 'shoulder jacket'. as soon as he sees me pull out this particular hoodie, he gets SO excited (wooo, we're gonna go do shoulder now!!!)

I was never much of a traveller, so I don't miss that, but I do miss not worrying every time I leave the house. I feel so vulnerable when I can't be there to supervise and protect my birds. I'm quite certain I wouldn't/couldn't get over their loss so I'm pretty cautious. I guess it's the same as before I had kids. You never from the moment they're born stop worrying about them. "Having kids [birds] changes everything."

oooooohhhh! Good topic!

I would say... Having a spotless house. I used to be able to clean once a week. Now I'm sweeping, mopping, wiping stuff every day. Food flung on the walls and surrounding cage floor. Sometimes I miss a spot and literally have to get on my hands and knees to scrub it off. Ugh.

Also, picking up and going away whenever I want. I use to take a lot of spur in the moment road trips. Nope. Not anymore. Now I have to get a baby sitter, pack up a bunch of stuff, write explicit directions, ect. Luckily I have a mom who adores my Mr. Pickles as much as I do. And I have a close friend who lives downthe street and can come by and feed and play with him if I want to spend a whole day away at the beach or soemthing. I just have to plan in advance. No more "Ooops, too many margaritas, let's just grab a hotel."

And lastly, poop. I miss not being pooped on. It's not fun.

Although some would call these "inconveniences" the love I get in return for all the work I do is reward enough. He makes our family so happy. He provides endless love and countless hours of entertainment. He puts smiles on our face when we are sad and brightens our day when we are feeling gloomy. I wouldn't change it for the world!

Aha, this made me laugh because I also have a 'designated' hoodie for Pixel and the minute I put it on she's on my shoulder. She'll also stay totally calm when I get home from work but once I put that hoodie on, I best let her out within seconds or EVERYONE will know her wrath.

As for what I miss... Probably cleaning less often. I now have a daily routine of getting home, put on designated hoodie, sweep floors wipe cage and walls.

I also miss being able to use my computer/cell phone/remote or really any electronic device without Pixel trying to eat it/stealing the keys.

I've still gone on vacation though and intend to continue to do so; I take Pixel with me to visit my parents, get a pet sitter if I'm only gone 3/4 days, and even though its a bit of a pain in the butt I'll drive the three hours to my parents and leave her with them if I'm going to be gone longer: she knows my parents and my younger sister very well and loves visiting them. She gets showered with attention and I get to leave my snow-6-months-of-the-year-and-rain-the-rest town once in a while... I need my sanity xD

Ruffled, this is such a smart idea. I need a poop-shoulder jacket as well, lol. Gilbert is so, so cute! I love that video where he says "hello". He's adorable. :)
