So I had to send my engagement ring off to a place that repairs antique jewelry (I've sent stuff there before without issues). I guess the day the package arrived, they were on vacation, as in building locked up and no one there. It should have been taken back and held at the post office, but instead the mailman just left it somewhere else entirely for god knows what reason. Seeing as someone signed for it, the postal investigators said there wasn't a huge probability it would ever be recovered. I was completely devastated, even if I got insurance money, it really isn't replaceable. Yesterday, they called and said the woman who had signed for it realized it wasn't meant for her and returned it to the post office! This lady could've kept it or pawned it and no one would ever know, but she had the integrity to return it. I am so very grateful, and it just makes me have faith there are still good, honest people in this world :D

I truly do believe there are a lot more good people out there than we see (because it becomes SO obvious all the time how many selfish people there are....hard not to notice them, because they are obnoxious, haha!)
I personally find it FUN and it totally lifts my spirit when i can do something like that, find something of someone's and return it or help like that. It brings a lot more joy to my life than keeping something i don't deserve. :) I'm so glad you got it back. There are such emotions tied to pieces like that.

YES THERE ARE DEFINITELY STILL HONEST PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD

What a kind decent woman, you sure are most fortunate as it is not replaceable.

My son Sean went to a Powder Concert on Saturday, I was unsure when he was going. I got a call from HIS cell phone and heard screaming and shouting... I immediately though he was in an accident. A lady told me she had found his cell phone on the floor, scrolled through his numbers and called "Mom"

I began crying I was so relieved nothing had happened to Sean AND his cell phone was returned to him.
Apparently the cell phone had fallen out of his girlfriend's handbag.

God Bless all honest people !!!!

I can't even imagine how upset you must have been. :( I'm SO glad for you that the woman was honest and decent enough to return it to the post office. :) Whew!!!

I was beyond heartbroken to find out it had basically been given away (this all started Friday). My hubby spent all weekend trying to make me feel better telling me it was insured, and I could get a new ring. I don't think men are quite on the same page with the emotional attachment to things like that. I know it could've been "replaced" by something similar, but it would have never been the same. I'm beyond happy it was returned and now the people who were suppose to have it have it in their possession now.

Antoinette- I'm glad your son is ok (that must've scared the crap out of you), and that the person returned the phone. I think ruffledfeathers is right that you only hear about the dishonest people the world, and so rarely hear of the honest ones.

It is so true.. we always hear of the bad and rarely the good things.
I promise you I cried for half an hour from relief, just knowing he was okay. It was one in a million chances getting the phone returned.
