I am so excited!! The excavators are here today starting site prep for our house!!!!

(That green box on the far right is our septic tank!)

So, hopefully they should be done next week and then they can start prepping for the foundation to be poured :D

Here's where our house is going

The front two stakes mark the front corners of our garage, and the backside of our house will be all deck because that's basically a cliff where the trees are.
So instead of a backyard, we'll have a side yard lol

Hopefully we'll be moved in by February 1st, but this is Oregon and the rainy season is already upon us lol it was pretty much monsooning yesterday.

It is amazing!!!

We have a unique situation though and were essentially forced to build houses (oh darn..)

We live on hubby's parent's property (8 acres), and the state's transportation department is building a new highway/bypass and they needed the front 1.5 acres- which is where the in-law's house sits. So with the payoff money, they're building a house to replace theirs as well as a house for us. The other option was to sell the whole property for dirt cheap and then move 40 years of stuff. no thanks to that!! Where would we put all these animals and 2 barns and a house filled with stuff?!?

I am so excited- I can hardly wait till we can move in!!! I'm so tired of living in our teeny tiny apartment... We have about 400 sq ft right now  and the house will be 1811 sq ft, including the garage which we'll convert to an extra living/movie room where the dogs and cats can hang out also.

I'm VERY excited!!

Here's our floor plan:

So the windows for our master bedroom, the kid's room, and the living room will all look out towards the trees.

I LOVE our property- it's secluded and quiet, we only have a few neighbors and they're not very close...we live on a dead-end street right next to a major river...there's lots of wildlife out here, and I hope this whole bypass doesn't disrupt things too much.

Love the floor plan and the vaulted ceilings!!! Love the entire layout!!! :D

You have like a nice private suit to yourself with the hubby, while the other 2 bedrooms are clear on the other side. PERFECT!!! :D:D

I bet you can already see yourself in your new home, can't you?

Yes- i love that our suite is on one side of the house and the kid's room and the office are on the other side. We had a choice between this plan and another, and I chose this one for that very reason.

Good news!!
They're DONE site prepping!! It seriously only took them 3 hours

Now we have to wait for the home company to come back and re-stake the house, and then the foundation people can start. :D

Congrats!!! I remember when my family had a huge brick two story home built, it was interesting to see the progress. But my family sold it when all the kids moved out as it was too big of a house for them to keep up. Now they're in a condo...lol

Thank you! I never would've pictured us having a house built; more like fixing up an old house hahaha but I couldn't be happier that our little family will finally have a house!!

I know right?! They were here at 7:15am and gone at 10:30...they were working the whole time and it went by so fast! I had to call my father in law to tell him they were gone and does that mean they're done?? Lol I was so amazed how fast they did it!

I can hardly wait- plus hubby is a general contractor so we'll actually be doing some of the work as well!

Good thing he is, so he can actually tell if they're doing the job properly!!! They didn't do a good job building my family's house as we find out later on down the road. We spent a fortune having that house built and having a huge lot. I think we sold the house for like $400,000 as it was in a very nice neighborhood. The value of that property went up now days because of the location, but oh well.....
