The bird was called Walter and he was such a doll. You got to play with his beak and his toes and everything. Absolute sweetheart!

Unbelievably so. I wanted to nuzzle right in there but thought I might lose an eye ;).

He was very heavy though despite being mostly feather - ached to have him on my arm for so long. Did not want to hand this guy back!

He was beautiful, I'm hoping to go back midweek and interact again! Then I'm going to book a days event with them (and Andrew :)) to get to see them all up close and person.

There was also two other owls there, that didn't like to be held, so stayed on their perches. In all my excitement I forgot to take pics :( One was just a standard barn owl, so beautiful! :)

Oh! I have ENVY!!! I love owls! (See my profile pic) Do you know what kind of owl Walter is? Long-eared Owl? Eagle Owl? I'm not so good on owls that don't live in Australia... But this guy is a stunner and how lucky were you!!!! :) :) :)

My God I must be some big ole sis because I'd be scared to death to hold a big ole owl - I can admire them, sure, from AFAR lol

if this is the same bird, apparently he is totally blind, and has been since birth

I think you're forgetting I'm in the UK haha! :p

I believe he's a great horned owl, I forgot to ask but I'm fairly sure.

He is wonderful, he's HUGE though but the guy ruffled his feathers for me and basically said 'hes all feather!'

Was wonderful, not at all scary. He's got huge claws, a beak that could decimate my fingers/eyes in seconds but he was just so gentle. Happily being passed around from person to person after I was done with him. He's got many keepers and obviously he's used in public a lot.

"He doesn't mind because he knows after the days done he gets to eat alllll the food he wants" :D

Going to try and visit again during the week when I can. :21:

Beautiful! Looks like an Eagle Owl, probably a Bengal Eagle Owl as he's fairly small (European and Bengal seems to be the most common ones kept here) :)

Thank you! I think you're right! Looking at descriptions and stuff it looks a lot closer than a great horned :)

Will ask next time I see them :21:

I'll definitely get pictures of the others too. I was just caught up in all the excitement hehe.

Possibly a European. They have slightly darker faces than Bengal eagle owls ;)

Ah, didn't know that! :) He looks so tiny, though? Though I guess he could just be a small individual :)
