Here's the link: Yoshi - Solomon Island Eclectus Parrot - March 14, 2014
I was gonna share it on facebook (and probably will.. just cause that's what parronts do, yeah?) however none of my "real" friends are really bird-people, so I figured he'd get the most of his day-of-fame here on the forum, which is what brought him to me in the first place!!
I'm sooo happy for my boy Yoshi, he's come such a long way only being with us for a couple weeks, when I got the email that he was going to be featured I was practically jumping up and down(practically. Not actually. I was quite comfy in my chair hehe!!) and Brad just shook his head at me haha.. but he's happy for me(And Yoshi) even though he doesn't completely understand some aspects of being a parront, he gets the essentials and he understands it makes me happy
Anyway, figured this would be a good time for a mini-update, while we were there last night Brad got Yoshi to come out of his cage, and while Yoshi was perched on his arm he started making his way closer and closer to Brad's hand..
Keep in mind, Yoshi has been TERRIFIED of hands since bringing him home. He steps up on arms and perches, but we keep our hands either covered by our sleeve or in a fist so he doesn't spook and lunge.
Brad says to ignore the fact that he's just staring at Yoshi with such a menacing facial expression.. hehe. Really he was excited for him and was talking to him calmly, he just didn't want to avert his attention should Yoshi look down and realize he's standing on a HAND! With FINGERS! And he didn't spook or try to bite once. (Really, Brad wasn't even worried about the bite- he can take it- he just didn't want it to scare him and end up dropping Yoshi.. hehe. But all went smoothly. )
After this picture was taken, Brad pulled up his sleeve on the arm Yoshi is perched on, revealing his whole hand, and a couple minute later Yoshi had moved over even more so he was entirely on Brad's thumb!! So that was quite a nice stepping stone for us.. it's so hard to try not to give him scritches on his head for being a good boy because we know he doesn't like it haha.. but maybe one day he'll let us scratch him and love him! Such cuties.
So after doing so well on the hand, he was put back inside his cage and given a few pine nuts(From a bowl, not our scary hands. ) before bed. C:
