So I went and picked up our 'new' car yesterday. Nothing special, but should be a good running car for a while:) At some point we need to get a radio for it (as you can see, it doesn't have one lol). I still had the black/red seat covers/steering wheel cover that were in my car when I bought it (I swapped them for pink ones:D) so they look nice in a dudes car. Cleaned it up today and my hubby and my buddy got to fight over who's car it was (well, IF Kiwi were a person, he would be legal to drive seeing as he is '16' lol):D

Yes, the car has gotten the birdie seal of approval:green:. He has marked his territory by rubbing his face all over the steering wheel and MANY 'happy' noises were made when we went for a spin around the block with him:D

Whew, I'm glad the new car is Kiwi approved!
The Civic does look like a good find, taken care of and kept clean which is not always easy to find!

We will be having the mechanic look it over next week. The dealership has a 30 day exchange policy, so if it does need some kind of major repairs (which I really can't foresee), I can exchange it for another car;)

Honda civics... Haha. I've hot a hatch back version of your car. It's by no way standard tho. I think the shell is the last standard thing left, and even that's changed colour.....

Speaking of colour.... Kiwi's gorgeous. Colours so bright on him. Blue in comparison is a lot darker. Hhmmmmmm

Looks like you have a two tone, sport interior? I love that. I seek that in every car i buy actually. I had a 2002 turbo beetle, in that limited edition double yellow, and it had yellow inserts in the wheels, yellow and black leather seats, yellow piping on the floor mats and yellow stitching on the steering wheel. And it was a very loud yellow so it was cool!

@Bacon- This one is just going to be a commuter car, and IF it lasts long enough for my hubby to save up for a little newer car, then we might use it as a family car (since it has 4 doors). I have seen the real nice Civics, but this one shall probably remain like it is. My Mustang is the car that has all the upgrades, but it's kind of my "baby" and I don't want my hubby driving it lol. He isn't much of a car guy anyways, just so long as it's reliable and halfway decent;)

@Ruffled Feathers- Those seat covers were in my Mustang when I bought it (it is a red car), but I swapped them out for pink ones. I kept them in my trunk for the past 6 years, so it was *super* convenient to still have them with this new car. I think they look nice, my hubby rolled his eyes and thought they were "unnecessary" but looked "ok". He is so funny to me, it's usually the guy who loves cars, but with us, it's quite the opposite:)

Well, went to the mechanic today and it could be better, could be worse. The good news is he said the car is in pretty good shape for the milage/age and theres nothing MAJOR wrong. The bad news is it's due for a tune up, needs new brakes and tires, which isn't cheap even though it's one of those things you just have to do with all cars:( I was kinda sorta hoping the prior owner had done the tune up before selling it, but it turns out they hadn't. But he said so long as we get the fluids changed and whatever list of parts they replace at 180K miles, it will be a good running car for years to come:) I guess you can't expect miracles on a low budget for a used car (but you can always hope!).

I don't expect the repairs for your new vehicle will be quite as expensive as it was for mine! I had to start with new brakes and rotors, few months later had to do the tires. Tires alone have been the most expensive repairs I've had to do, at $1.2k! Was not happy, but then again, I didn't shop around for a good vehicle, simply had one offered because the owner wanted something cheaper, and I knew that these vehicles (Chryslers) are good vehicles if taken care of. (which mine was not.... hence already spending as much money in repairs as it cost to purchase said vehicle)

I hope the brakes and tires, plus the tune up is all that's really required for your vehicle for some time! :)
