So as the 25th approaches I am more and more aware that were getting closer to the anniversary of the day I was so sick when I went into the ER that the doctor told me if he was eight and I had meningitis I wasn't going to make it through the night. I was scared but didn't let my grandma see it as I could tell she was really scared but since she drove me to the ER she was also in the room when the doctor told me this. Clearly the doctor was wrong as I'm still alive but I've also been thinking about how much pain I was in after the spinal tap to see if he was right. I'm beginning to think my memories from last year are causing my body to be in pain because my lower back has been killing me today.

I am so sorry you're having a tough time with this:( I think there is a strong tie between pain in the mind and physical pain. However, there is also a chance something else is going on that is a physical injury. Have you had any follow up exams to see if a nerve was damaged or some other complication of the procedure? Trauma can linger and not fully heal for a VERY LONG time. More than a few years ago, I tripped over a metal box (long story) and did some kind of much worse than I would have expected damage to my shins. I can still feel pain there, and the bruises still come and go. Shins are a minor spot to have pain, your spinal area is potentially serious. You'd probably be best to at least have it checked out so you know if it's a physical cause or an emotional cause. Hope it feels better either way soon though.

I agree, the mind has a lot of power over the body, and a lot of it is subconscious. Like April said, since you're dealing with an area such as the spine, it might be a good idea to have a follow up exam at this time to make sure nothing is wrong. I hope you feel better soon.

I know I did some damage to it because a month later I was carrying bulky and some time heavy boxes up 5 flights of stairs because the elevators didn't work. Partly cause I needed money and partly cause the doctors didn't tell me what I should and should not be doing.
