Wow! Those lovebirds have such large beaks! And look like twice the size of my lovebird! Are those "lovebirds" on birdie steroids?

It's the Daily Mail. They can't fact check to save their lives.

I like how they even go into "details" about the species on how they are NATIVE to Africa and "like to spend long periods sitting together" LOL.

Hahahaa! :D This is really funny - probably many parrot owners had a good laugh. :D But I can understand that for those who know very little about birds the colors of cherry headed conure could be easily be attributed to a peach face lovebird. :) But the size is so different! :D

Wow, does no one check the stories they print?
Great post, April, made me smile:)
Wonder if anyone is now looking for lovebirds like those at their local pet shop, and arguing with the staff when actually shown lovebirds?

I ended up writing a comment. I will post my comment on the subject here so you guys can get a kick out of it. Maybe i was a little too angry but this is an issue!

These Definitely are NOT Lovebirds, Not even a similiar species to lovebirds! These are Cherry Headed Conures aka Red Masked Conures. If someone owned one of these and was told it was a lovebird theyd be giving it the wrong food diet and end up killing the poor animal. This needs to be corrected because the Parrot community is a small one and we cannot afford to have giant mistakes like this one around.

What is happening... My post above was typed with all capitals and the green laughing smiley. Look how it came out. ?? It won't let me edit it. When I press submit it looks just the way I typed it. Not to change the subject, but anyone know what is going on?

My iPad does funny things like that too sometimes:(

I too took a moment to realize they were actually referring to the CONURES in the photo as lovebirds (the species). I had to re-read it lol. When I saw the article, I thought they were calling them "lovebirds" as in an endearing name for a bonded pair of birds...NOT as a reference to what species they were. And when it actually went into specifics about these "african lovebirds" I googled it just to be sure I wasn't crazy because I was positive those were conures (and they are!). How journalism mistakes like this happen is beyond me!
