When Mango gets real close to my face and just rests his beak on my cheek. Oh, and when he sits on my shoulder and coo's real softly in my ear.

When your parrot goes through over and under mountainous terrain to get to you, just so he can poop on your arm and then run off... Lol.

Wish my brats would preen my hair.. but I guess they think I take good enough care on my own. They only preen the boy hair in this house.

But I sure do feel loved and lucky when someone falls asleep upside down under my hair :)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Cuddling! Or having a bird on each shoulder as you prepare their food, sit at the computer, etc.

1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
When I'm sitting on the couch, Kiwi likes to sneak up behind me and play with my hair clip if my hair is in a bun. Then he runs off and when I ask him "who just messed with my bun" he responds with a "hoot?" (like an owl, but theres almost a questioning inflection to it).

Or when I'm folding laundry on the bed, I bring in a little container of small toys he likes for him to play with. After carefully selecting the 'perfect' toy, he'll run up to me, turn his head, give me the "eye" and drop the toy right on whatever I'm folding then run off. And when I respond by (overly dramatized of course) rummaging about in the toy container and "steal" one of his toys, he makes his goose honk noise and comes running after me offering kisses because OBVIOUSLY I took the best one and he wants it back;)

Little things like that, to me, are the most rewarding part of living with Kiwi. He may not like being petted, but he is SO interactive with us and instigates the type of play/interaction he enjoys!

Height dominance Maggie style:

She lays her head down sideways on the top of my forehead for an extended head scratch every morning...

With Sweepea, it's poofed up nose to beak. (She greets me by head butting me nose to beak while quacking like a duck. Then poofs up for her morning head scratch.)

Sally puts up her head feathers, and lays her head in the palm of my hand...

Tusk talks to me conversationally at times...

Lila does her happy head bob thing with her eyes going, and makes kissing noises...

And this is how I start my day every morning.

have you hugged a parrot today? | people | Pinterest

Does it get any better than hyacinth hugs?!

(That bird looks like it's bigger than she is!)

OMGosh this is freaking adorable! and she looks just like my neice. JUST like her. well at least like 4 years ago ^^

I know exactly what you mean, i never thought i would allow something like this because my eyes are precious to me, but just yesterday, or the day before can't remember,Zippo my 8 week old sun conure was sitting on my shoulder while i was doing some work. He was running his beak up and down my face checking me out (He is extremely gentle, and very cuddly) He kept wanting to touch the corner near my eye and i kept moving my head subconsciously as i was writing. Eventually i just put up with it and he touched my eye lashes. he started preening my eyelashes and it weirdly felt good. I was a little weirded out by it feeling good cause i'm like, "who likes their eyelashes touched" but it felt good, so what the heck right? He did this for a good 2 minutes then moved onto my sideburns which also felt really good (which led me to make the original post)

I've been getting my eyebrows and my eyelashes preened by my amazon every day for around 14 years now.

The macaws go straight for the eyeballs. They're both eyeball lickers. In fact, they both will use their beak to grab hold of my nose, and gently turn my head from side to side to get to the other eye. "Hold still til I finish." And that's been going on for around a decade or so...

So yeah, I have three that absolutely dote on me that way...

And Pecker, when she was still with me, used to quite literally launch herself to my shoulder and greet me with her happy to see you dance, and then shove her head in my eye socket, before both feet even made it in the door...

It's a simple and pure form of love. That's what they give us in return...

you've got a macaw coming... This will now be a given, as will the tongue in the eyeball/earhole flopping around and playing on your lap stuff... If they get handled they just do!!
