Odd for me to break down and spill like this but I feel that you guys are special and consider many of you my friends

Today is REALLY rough, my Grandmother is doing about the same but requires someone with her at all times, taking shifts for sleeping there at night as well. Up at 5am this morning only to see a notification on fb, a former "friend" trying to trash my name on one of my groups, telling outright lies about me and my birds and making life miserable. Totally blindsided by this and EXTREMELY hurt that this person who I considered a friend would do something like this. I've worked long and hard to do what's best for my birds and am totally bowled over by what she is saying. I don't believe in having a public argument, it'll die down by itself eventually but this has me in tears :( I thought we were friends! Friends don't do this, feeling betrayed, hurt, angry and confused:confused:

Melissa, firstly.... ------>

I am so sorry you are hurting so deeply! The person you are speaking of is clearly NO friend! No TRUE friend (former or current) would do this. And then publicly on FB? Not knowing your history with this 'friend', can you call and 'set things straight'?

More hugs!!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Sorry to hear you are having social media issues at such a tender moment.

This is part of the difficulty with cyber communications; sometimes folks already possessing marginal "filters" come out swinging for all manner of reasons. Try to keep it in perspective by cherishing your real friends, and most importantly, caring for your Grandmother.

I am so sorry. I joined a few of Parrot groups on FB . Felt like Jerry Springer group after reading it. I am not into FB much. I have um maybe 4 friends and they are co workers and few Family members from out of state we share pictures. BUT I really hate how some are treated on FB or any social media

My Dad told me when I was very young. Watch what you put into print it will be there forever.

I am sorry she hurt your feelings

Sending Prayers for your Grandmother

Re: "Friendship"

I am so sorry that this person feels the need to make themselves feel better about themselves at your expense. It is especially a shock when it comes completely out of left field and unwarranted.

Be thankful that you now know who you are dealing with, and do not waste another precious moment thinking about him/her.
The people who are your true friends knows who you are, and the effort and love you give to your animals.

Stay strong!

Thank you all!

Wendy, for some reason she HATES me. Seriously, I have no idea why or what in the world happened that caused this. I feel sick:(

I only recently joined facebook and only for the groups, I haven't posted anything on my timeline. Some people post EVERYTHING on facebook from I ate pizza for breakfast to why is the sky blue:rolleyes:

Can you make your groups private so only your friends on facebook can see them? I'm afraid that she will join all of my favorite groups now. I guess I'm paranoid at this point. I was enjoying the parrot groups.

Yes, Melissa, you can create private groups, which people can only join 'via invite'.

And I also can't stand when social media is being used as a form of 'diary'. Almost embarrassing to read the stuff some people come up with.

Is there a way to make the groups that I'm on invisible to someone visiting my page to be nosy?

I'm sorry you are going through so much, Melissa. Hugs to you and best wishes to your grandmother.

I hope you can find a way to block this person and continue to enjoy your parrot groups.

First I want to say how sorry I am over your grandmothers declining health.

With that person, well turn it over and look at it like this. She has LOST YOU as a friend, her loss. I don't turn myself inside out over people and their BS drama anymore. I have a saying..."Not my circus..not my monkeys". Life is too short to focus on that sort of nonsense. I consider myself the best kind of friend. I am kind, generous and day or night always available for a shoulder to cry on or a sounding board to vent to. I give my advise when asked but otherwise I keep my mouth shut. I keep a secret to my grave EVEN if the friendship ends. If that isn't enough to keep a person loyal and friendly to me than to H-E- double hockey sticks to them! Don't let the door hit you on the way out I say. The people that truly know you will blow off her lies and see it for what it is. Chin up! :D

Oh my gosh Laura!:) Thank you! It's funny you said "not my circus, not my monkeys" that's what her husband always said! I'd never heard of that saying before but it struck my funny bone when you mentioned it in your post:D

See, I'm the same as you where the idea of friendship is concerned. I will help you all I can, lend an ear, be supportive and be there through thick and thin, tell me a secret and it stays a secret. I've gotten better at brushing off what other people say but this from a "friend" really and I mean REALLY hurt, and with more work and less sleep I probably let it get to me more than I should have. Anyway, I'm much better now.
you guys are great. I KNEW I could come here!:heart::heart::heart::heart:

I cosign completely with what Laura said. She has lost you as a friend, and it is her loss!

Of course a betrayal like that from someone you considered a friend is going to hurt like a mule kick, but ultimately it's better that she revealed herself for who she really is sooner rather than later. You won't have to waste another second sharing the beautiful gift of your friendship with someone so undeserving of it.

I'm so glad you're feeling better now, Melissa. We're like a big, extended family over here... and you're a valued part of it.

oh dear!:( That is NOT a friend! I had to go through that at some point... It's hard when it hurts, but you have to throw that person out of your life, including the FB life.

Yeah my wife had a similar thing happen to her regarding chickens on some FB chicken forum.....

I don't do facebook anymore...in my opinion it's a joke.

Some People post the strangest most ridiculous stuff..and need to get a life, they live to argue on FB......such as :

Today I woke up....then I breathed....then I had to go to the bathroom..
then make breakfast, then I stepped on the dogs tail, etc....etc...etc...
Get the point???? Some have nothing better to do.

People are jealous and mean, this is why I chose Parrot Forum not face-book. Worry about what's important and let go of those who are not!
