I don't know if any of you seen the news about cracking down on rape
down in Panama during the spring break. The news say and shows several versions of video of the rape taken from other students....and are seeking even more video footage...

Really? I mean come on, really ????? A woman is being raped and 8 passer bys reach for cell phones and record it?? Geez, I'd be dialing 911 first, then find something to whack the dude raping her, then take all the bystanders phones and whack them phones to pieces and throw them in the ocean. wait....keep their phones and throw the idiot bystanders in the ocean. Not one person helped. Isn't it a sick world?

It really gets me you see videos of someone filming, but never 911 called or anyone helping. Totally baffles me....

I am afraid we are fast becoming a desensitized video happy society. I also cannot understand how people can just video or walk past something like this. I am a small woman but you can bet that rapist would have gotten all my 5'1" fury launched at him.

Last time I was in NY there was a homeless person sitting on the sidewalk with his sign, a young punk came up to him and started throwing pennies at the man. I lost it told him to knock it off, do the world a favor and jump off the GW and other choice words I can't say here! Then gave the homeless man a large bill to compensate and let the man know that there were people with compassion in the world. We both got tears, I made a connection to a beautiful soul inside those tattered clothes. There is a Vietnam vet locally here that I go out of my way to find and make donations to, my uncle killed himself after the war and I feel an affection toward this man. NO ONE should be homeless in this country and certainly not a man who fought for it!

I couldn't agree more. I don't mean to sound mean here or be political but take care of your own first. If I had money to give in large amounts I would give to Americans first. We send billions to other countries for aid and relief while Americans are homeless and hungry.

If I saw someone being abused I would at least call the police. I would take video or pics for the express purpose of collecting evidence. I would focus on faces and distinguishing marks and turn over to local authorities.

If I got involved physically I would make sure to try to scratch everyone. It marks them and provides DNA. Maybe even try to grab some hair.

I don't understand any of this stuff! Were they raised by wolves?!

This isn't an opinion thing. This is just right and wrong.

I don't understand it either.....Was listening to the " Bob and Tom show" on the radio and they brought up the same thing.....

They inquired into police reports...and learned that not one person or bystander that video taped it reported it to police. The videos were found on the net. They said same thing...people are more interested in making a video sensation for them selves than helping someone out, and added the bystanders should be charged as well for not reporting a crime.

I can't comprehend the mentality of people.

I was at a walmart last summer and it was a hot day have frozen stuff and Ice cream in cart waiting to check out....this young gal around 20 ish had a full cart, and cell phone to ear, putting one item on checkout at a time with like a 15-20 second pause inbetween items....holding up the line and waving hands as she was talking.

People were getting really annoyed finally I said "excused me" I grabbed her phone and threw it half way across walmart. She looked at me and said...."I'm calling the cops !!" people in line responded back...you go right ahead lady!!!" and a round of applause went up for me....she became disgusted pushed her cart out into the walk way and left the store.

Everyone laughed....! Well....there's places to do the chit chat...don't hold people up in the process. God I hate annoying people without brains or respect for others.

You have a great heart ! I remember several summers ago a strange man came up to the porch and asked if we had any food. My wife and I looked at each other. Then I said pull up a chair, my wife will make us sandwiches. As we began to eat He started crying, and said " your very nice, and everyone else asked me to leave.

Under every clothed person, no matter how grubby they look, is a person with a heart....No different from you and I. It's not our place to judge people. Yes there's people I just rather avoid that are heartless, but there are those too that have a heart of gold....and are in rough times from not fault of their own.

My wife and I donate turkeys for thanks giving and Christmas for those less fortunate. It's a good feeling.

One of the major reasons we moved away from California.

The RICHMOND HIGH SCHOOL PROM incident.

The girl that happened to was one of my daughter's friend's older sister...

It's one thing to hear about it in the news. It's something else entirely to know the people involved... and live in the area where stuff like that happens!

Her school wasn't much better. And it was the actually one of the best schools in the (grossly under performing) district.

She's about to graduate High School in six weeks, with honors and a 3.6 GPA!!! AND SHE'S PICKED OUT A COLLEGE.

In California, she had completely lost interest in school, was getting bullied, and didn't want to go anymore, at the Jr. High level...

I HAD TO GET HER OUT OF THERE, AND I'M GLAD I DID!!!

In all fairness,,,you need to go to panama Beach during spring break to see how it really is. Drunk kids having sex on the beach in public is not uncommon. I could see where a bystander might not realize a rape is taking place. I'm not condoning the bystanders actions, but rather pointing out that many folks might not realize what spring break can be like.
