A woman posted her Macaw had eaten come cheese and she was crying and freaking out about it . I posted back it was ok as long as it was not a lot. That I give my Macaw a small pinch of Pepper Jack cheese when he is really good .

OMG you would have swore I said I pluck his feathers and sold them on Ebay. They took off on a really nasty attack on me. One actually said they would report me for mistreating my Macaw and have him taken away.

My post was deleted and I was kicked from the group. No big loss but hate that people are so narrow minded. What is wrong with people ?
The key to any good forum / group is Education , Understanding and trying to make people see where they go wrong. Not brow beating. No one knows everything. Learning and helping others understand is the key. NEVER think you know everything because sorry no matter how smart you think you are there is someone out that that might know a little more. If you close your mind you will not learn.

If someone post they feed only sunflower seeds 5x a day and they have been corrected in a post please do not jump on a WTH < What the heck lol is wrong with you ban wagon. They read the first post saying they are doing wrong. NOW post what could be done better.
Be Kind
Educate
Listen
and learn

I'm sorry Christine! But like you say, no big loss, you have us :)! That's unfortunate that so many people can be that narrow minded. It's not like you said your bird's main diet is cheese. What's wrong with people smh...

I call it "Anonymous Ahole Syndrome." Since people don't have to see your face and acknowledge you are a human being with real human feelings and that their posts could really, truly hurt your heart, they say whatever they want in ways they would never say it to your face. It is the biggest downside of the internet. Sorry you got hurt. I don't believe there is ever an excuse to strike people down online, ever. You should treat people the same as you would if you were right in front of them--sticks and stones may break a person's bones, but words can permanently scar them.

I in no way know everything but I read more than most about Macaw's because I don't know . I should not be shocked about how mean people can be but it just rocked me. Serious the major attack came from the forum creator. I had 36 personal messages sent saying the agree with me and i was treated unfair. BUT none of them posted in my defense . Sad

I'm so sorry that happened, and sorry for their poor birds. What a bunch of holier-than-thou nut jobs. Imagine the type of rigid, no fun homes those birds live in if CHEESE is deemed to be THAT 'evil'? I'm glad common sense prevails on this forum!

Amen

The only thing that would have been better is if they had allowed me 5 more minutes to keep posting. LOL I can be nice until it is no longer required .

Thanks guys I just needed to vent

Geez people can be annoying! The woman crying and freaking out sounds like a drama queen. Most times it takes a 5 second google search to get the answer to MOST questions or to be put at ease or realize you actually have something to freak out about and then the answer is go to the vet not whine on the internet. But NOOOO some folks have to twist their panties, get a million people to soothe them and hand feed them answers that they could have found themselves if they cared to do the looking. The real issue is her macaw will probably become a neurotic mess because she is! Sounds like you are better off without those kinds of folks and the ones who backed you in private ONLY..spineless! I have no tolerance for cowards! Speak the truth and shame the devil I always say!

I'm sure most of us have done something wrong in the past. Being attacked won't help anyone. Sorry you were attacked by them. I love this forum because I feel everyone is so supportive. How do you help ANYONE by attacking and threatening a bird owner??? It's not like you said you like feeding cyanide to your birds! Hope the rest of your day is fantastic!

Thanks ! This happened yesterday so I am ok now/ Just thought I would make a thread to make people aware . Sometimes people post not thinking that others might be hurt . They just don't think
Great day here.

Great day here.

I've been booted from two forums - both automobile enthusiast sites! The friction had nothing to do with the base interest but rather the poisonous well of the political science subforum aka "shove your political agenda down the member's throat." The mods had no interest in a fair discussion of topics but rather advancing an agenda and vilifying opposing views.

I thank the mods of ParrotForums for preventing such divisive sideshows!!

It seems not everyone listened when their grandmother told them, "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar!" I sure did, and run our own forum that way - we demand everyone treats other with respect, even when disagreeing.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Yeah, well I've been kicked off three boards in the past decade or so... Including a board I actually moderated for several years...

If you're dealing with a bunch of chicken littles, "Oooohhh, help! My macaw ate a sliver of cheese... He may be dead by morning!" Really?!

Can you say Drama?!

How much actual learning is taking place on that board? Are they all just passing along third hand myths?!

Good riddence.

As the old saying goes: "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time, and annoys the pig..."

5 Parrots, 8 year old Blue-fronted Amazon, 2 1/2 yr. old African Grey, 2 3/4 year old Senegal. 5 month old ekkie, 5 month old Albino parakeet. Major Mitchell Cockatoo, passed away at age 68.
`Hi,

You know it just bugs the hell out of me big time that people out there draw conclusions based on hear says which research facts still lie undocumented to support that cheese is bad.

My major Mitchell Cockatoo died at the age of almost 69 years old, it lived a good life, and had cheese now and then, ( a tiny bit) twice a week, and a bit of chocolate candy now and then. Never once.....Never once...Failed a blood test and always had great health. Cheese is a Myth....and Research proves it. Though it's treated as a rare treat, not part of the diet.

See, the myth was that birds can't have cheese....wrong... it's certain cheeses that are aged and some such as Parmesan that don't break down well, so as the story got passed on to person to person and published here and there with not actual facts, it was assumed all cheeses are bad....Some cheeses they can have, Many out there they can't have.
( Oil Based, goat cheese, onion cheese, garlic cheese stuff like that)....Same with chocolate, many people don't understand it isn't the chocolate that's bad, it's the "Cocoa"
content in it, and American chocolate is very low.

You won't get shot down here, everyone has opinions, sure, but we are all adults here, well many of us anyway.

There are some crazy cruel forums out there. I may know which one you're talking about.
A while back I was checking out a popular parrot forum and read a thread where someone's bird had taken off and landed on someone's head and clawed them up, and they had to clip it's wings for it's own sake. All the responses were 'I highly suggest you remove this thread before anyone sees it' etc, even from the creator of the forum. There was no education going on there, just passive attacks.
Makes me just love this forum and all its wonderful members!

Yeah that is my issue with some forums I visited when I first got BB. Someone might be doing wrong but if you never let them know why it is wrong well History repeats itself.
They contacted me back to rejoin. I deleted and never answered.

Thank you for all the support
