I don't usually share photos and such but I had a good day today at a place called Gooseberry Falls along the north shore of Lake Superior. I usually drive up once a year for a bit of relaxation. But this time was especially memorable. If you ever get up to northern Minnesota, it is worth stopping by for a few hours of walking or bring your bike for some riding up the Gitchi-Gami trail to visit Split Rock Lighthouse. Nice camping there too but reserve months in advance.

On your way north to the falls or going back south, keep an eye out for a little diner called Betty's Pies. It is just north of the town of Two Harbors. Have a slice of pie and thank me later. They are almost criminally good. I think I gained back all of the calories I burned off earlier with one slice!

I was taking these photos with my phone but unfortunately the battery died not long after I got to the shore of Lake Superior. 15 minutes later, I came across a juvenile bald eagle just off the bike trail. Got to spend about 5 minutes watching him watching me. Was bummed that I was not able to get some photos. He took off and passed right in front of me. Those birds are huge!

Enjoy!

What a nice day you had James! Thanks for posting this. The scenery is so beautiful and so relaxing... I'd love to be there. If I stare into your pictures hard enough, do you think I'll transport? Lol. The scenery kind of reminds me of visiting the Sierras in Northern CA as a child.
