I just happened to click to my profile, and realized I need to edit it, just one little line, and let you know why I had been sparse in May.

On May 4th, Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you) I unexpectedly became a widow. So I can no longer say I do our websites "with my hubby" - though I will always consider it part of his legacy.

It has now been over two months, but I am still blindsided by stupid things that make me cry, and suspect that will be true for a while to come. So if you visit the sites and notice a mistake, feel free to let me know, as we were each other's proofreaders and page-checkers. I know the archive pages are kind of mixed up - the individual pages are fine, the indexes a bit loopy, but am still working on figuring that all out.

And I continue to feed the wild birds, of course!

I lost my Rachel five years ago...

I can tell you from experience, it doesn't go away. That person lives on in your heart, but they are physically gone from your day to day life forever, and aren't coming back. So, that hole will still be there...

What you do, is keep going. Gradually, you learn to deal with the loss. And hopefully, you rebuild your life, and it continues, not as before... but not as empty as that loss you presently feel.

It isn't easy. But somehow, you will get through this.

Just remind yourself from time to time, when it gets rough, that you're not the one who died. You HAVE TO go on with your life... even when it hurts, and you feel a sense of purposelessness.

Thanks everyone. I am extremely fortunate, as I have a very large circle of friends, family (including his) and church members who are supporting me, which I have been deliberately mindful of taking advantage of help offered, rather than hiding in bed with my head under the covers.
