Okay, so a couple weeks ago I found out that my boss(I'm a nanny/maid) found someone to watch her kid for a cheaper price and told me I would no longer be watching her little girl. I've been searching frantically for jobs as getting Phoebe depleted my savings account. I've been incredibly stressed as this was my last week of work and I still hadn't gotten another job. I would starve myself and live without in order to keep my furry and feathered kids. Luckily it did not come to that, today I was offered a wonderful position with T-Mobile!!! With a bonus of twice the pay as my nanny job, benefits and paid leave. I am now over the moon, so here's to those few and far between "wonderful Mondays".

It's sad that we live in a society where parents want to or can only afford to pay so little for child care.

I see so many ads on craigslist where the pay averages out to $5 or less per hour and they want cleaning cpr and first aid certified too.

I'm not even going to tell you what I paid my house sitter when we were gone for eight days, but he cleans cages and scoops poop lol and at the time we had doolie..which really liked him(over 3) all worth it.
Good job finding something that will support you and your loved ones...that's hard these days..I have three degrees I don't use because bartending is way better.

Well..there wasn't any cages, but I also cared for her 2 dogs.

I have a degree, but was nearly done with it when I discovered there wasn't many solid opportunities in my Major.

Let's see....

When I was in my twenties, I had a maniac for a boss, who was difficult to get along with at the best of times, and one of those guys who demanded you come in early and work late, and thought nothing of calling you at home on the weekend...

THEN ONE MORNING, AFTER ALL THAT HE FIRED ME ON A WHIM...

I had a new job within a week, and it came with a rather large raise... so, seemed bad at the time, but didn't turn out bad.

About half a dozen years later, that firm broke up, and I got laid off... the people who DIDN'T lose their jobs, got all the work the rest of us were expected to do, PILED ON TOP OF everything they already did... (Don't like it? You're fired!) And it was a miserable existence for them...

I found another job within a month. And ended up moving up...

Same deal here. In the end that tight wad did you a huge favor! Seriously?! Five bucks an hour and I'm fired?!

I'D BE SINGING "YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME WHEN I'M GONE" ON MY WAY OUT THE DOOR, JUST FOR SPITE... :p

While I understand the need for employers to save money, I always shake my head in disbelief when they try to scrimp on important people like nannies.
Congratulations on your new job, I hope you enjoy it :)
