Oh sweet Jeasus how can you silence your heart?

I've got quite a little zoo of rescues that landed on my doorstep for one reason or another (5 macaws and 2 little dogs) and God knows they are a constant joy and I couldn't imagne my life without them. But I promised myself and more importantly my partner, that we were done. Now here we go again :-(

We baby sat a little Yorkie this past weekend for a neighbor. Sweeeet young dog...super loving. He had a great time with my little guys, his owners returned home and so did he.

Tonight I get a cl from my neighbor (she's in her early 70's). She cried on the phone, explaining that loves him but her grown son is abusing him.

She's begging me to take him. Im so angry i could scream. This is just breaking my heart. When I think of this gentle creature cowering in a corner I could.....

Those dogs are so tiny...you wouldn't even notice one more little body in the mix...

As father to a teacup Yorkie, this tears me up. Is there any way you can act like a temporary foster? Tiny Yorkies are so in demand, you would have no shortage of potential families willing to take him in on no time flat. Check into local Yorkshire terrier rescues.

Best of luck in this. It's such a sad place to be, but if you can make a difference for one of the most helpless of dog species, the joy you feel will be beyond anything you've ever felt.

Please rescue the puppie! If you just can't keep him in the end then you can find a different place for him, but if he is being abused!!! Please do help the little lovey, it will also put the neighbors concerns at rest to know her pup is safe and well taken care of :)

What a precious baby. I think in these cases it is almost impossible to silence your heart.
I love the idea of taking him in and then finding a loving home if it proves to be too much.
Good luck on whatever you decide, such a hard place to be in.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
There is no silencing of the heart in this case, only an effort to balance your wonderful capacity to rescue helpless creatures with the reality of your situation.

We can all usually do a bit more we imagine, so good luck with your decision!

I was pretty upset at the time of this posting. Finding a home would have indeed been very easy, but it wasn't an option. The owner would only agree to give him up if we took him, so she could still spend time with him.

I really felt for her but personally would have kicked out the son and kept the dog. Impossible position to be put in, couldn't sleep the whole night but as you've probably already guessed, I picked him up the next morning.

Meet Coby!

Oh how precious!! The pic melts my heart, and it breaks my heart to hear such a sweet cute little thing was being abused. I'm happy to hear you rescued Coby. Perfect that your other dogs welcomed him too :).
