Surprise! Once again I've brought goat kids into the house and told my family that they have to give up SOME space in our upstairs bathroom (LARGE dog crate) :D I've told them it'll only be around a week or so....... just waiting for the weather to warm up :54: It's supposed to be in the upper 30's-40's this coming week, so fingers crossed! I have little goat 'coats' that I made, although they may be too large for the smaller 2........... I can make them new ones :32:
Anyway, enough rambling and onto the story

Our vet had a doe who kidded (gave birth) to 5 babies:eek: He already has quite a few bottle babies and the thought of more was a tad intimidating, long story short. I have 3 babies! The boer is unrelated and the other 2 share the same father, so half siblings (Nubians)

Sid is a 10 day old Boer buck (boy) with entropion, he put stitches in to hold the eyelid

Thinking on naming this little guy Buddy, but I'm still debating on whether or not that name suites him so if anyone as name suggestions let me know :)

Same thing goes for this little girl, leaning towards the name Dot (she's got two little dots on her belly)

And then a group one taken yesterday after they got settled into their crate

I apologize for the not-so-great pics, they weren't cooperating as much as they could have, too much energy. I'll take better ones soon :)

SWOOOON! Melissa, they are all just precious!!!! :smile015:

So wait, they are all in your bathroom upstairs? That's too funny! :D

I never knew goats could have entropion. Is it common?
Sid, Buddy & Dot. I like those names! :)

Thank you Wendy! I couldn't say no to these guys:D Yes, I've had a couple of complaints, apparently my family isn't thrilled about waking up at 1am because the kids declared it to be feeding time, the little darlings woke up half the house with their crying last night.....

Hmmm, I've heard of it twice since I started raising goats several years ago so I'm going to say not too common? I'm no expert though so I could be wrong :)

They're sooo cute! I love the names too, I think Sid might be my favourite thus far, do you think he'll get along with Eden?
I do expect videos of them, I hope you know that ;)

What exactly is entropion?

Yaah, Sid is one big baby! Definitely an armful, and super squirrely, I couldn't get him to hold still for pics at ALL.

You can read a bit about entropion here Entropion (Inverted Eyelid)

I imagine that Sid and Eden will get along just fine, Eden is freally sweet and gets along with everyone. She's my good little girl  :)

I'll see about vids of them ;)

Sweet pics, Melissa! And I definitely learned some new things (kidded and entropion), so informative too!

Looking forward to the videos!

Sweet photos, the kids are adorable. I had to laugh a at your family's reaction to a bathroom taken over by a group of baby goats. The little ones declaring it was time for a bottle in the middle of the night may not have been too endearing. Thanks for sharing your newest loves, Melissa.

It was almost 40F out yesderday so I got out the goat coats and took the kids out to the barn, introduced them to Eden and today they're getting along like old friends (Eden is 6 months old, so although there's quite a size difference she's still really sweet with the babies) actually Eden was a bit afraid of the kids at first lol. Also, Sid's entropion has been corrected! :)

I'm hoping to get pics and a vid as well ;) of the babies for you guys, things have been crazy around here lately due to my grandmother's health declining these last few weeks. However I haven't forgotten and I will upload some in a couple of days hopefully

We'll be looking forward to it whenever you can find the time, Melissa.

I'm so sorry to hear that your grandmother's health is declining, and I know that you are doing all you can for her. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thank you Stephen! We've kept her in her home yet, one of us is there 24/7. She has Alzheimer's and has had a few strokes so is unable to do basic tasks :( Prayers would be much appreciated

What you are doing for her, committing so much time and effort to her care so that she can stay home, is truly tremendous. Especially with health conditions like Alzheimer's and dealing with the aftermath of multiple strokes.

I so respect and admire what you are doing for her and, while I don't know the extent of her awareness at the moment, I don't doubt that she deeply appreciates it on some level.
