Unbelievable!!! If I were him, it might be a good idea to keep in mind the fact that that is a wild, unpredictable animal...or I should say fish....

That is truly amazing although I got chills when I saw his hand so close to the shark's mouth. What happens if it sneezes or something and by accident takes off his hand - sharks don't sneeze do they?

Thanks for posting Ant - really stunning to see :D

Surfed the net now, most of them reckon sharks do not sneeze. However one link mentioned if they see green they sneeze

Look at the picture below, look what colour "ball" he is holding in his hand

I LOVE sharks and I've watched many programs on Animal Planet about them, they had a whole month of broadcasting sharks.

I treat animals equal to humans because I believe they have feelings just like us and even more than some people that I know. Everybody thinks I am crazy, but hey, if I am right then I have lost out on nothing. However, if everybody else were wrong then they have missed out on the most incredible relationship that words can not describe - that goes from a lizard all the way to a shark. :D

You two are too funny and the emoticons make me laugh, you find the best one that describe the conversations, you could probably ditch the vocab and just use emoticons.

Back to the shark, I'm all for bonding with nature but I'm sorry if that were me I'd have to pass on the PDA with a GREAT WHITE SHARK!!!!! Yikes!

Sorry to be a downer everyone, but I agree with Ripley. I study marine biology, so I know sharks. They only thing I have to prove this story false is the fact the guy is giving a shark belly rubs and he doesn't seem to have any cuts, abrasions, or bruises on his hand.

Shark skin is actually scales, known as denticles, which are embedded in the dermis (lower layer of skin), with their point directed posteriorly (towards the tail). The morphology of these denticles is particular to each shark species, and in most cases, these denticles keep getting bigger as the animal grows (these skin denticles are shed and replaced just like sharks' teeth).
So, if you happen to rub with your naked skin against the shark, in the direction opposite that of the orientation of the denticle tips, you could get seriously grazed and chafed.
