Despite what else has been going on:mad: and on a more positive note, we do have a couple relatives who don't use the internet and wanted some pics of our new place. No pics of the second bedroom yet. I have not got it as set up as I'd like and we still need to get a sofa bed for it as it will be sort of our gym/office/guest bedroom. No pics of the entry even though it looks nice, just way too awkward/narrow to get a pic of. I planned to send these ones off today anyways. Thought I'd share here too since everyone is like an extended family:)

Really love the open-loft as our room. Not close to as big as the second bedroom, but I guess I don't really see a point not having our room up here since it fits all our stuff. Plus, we like the skylights and being able to look over the edge.

Love being able to look over and see downstairs! Will probably be great too once we have kids to be able to keep an eye on them.

I've never had a double vanity bathroom before, but it is the weirdest layout ever. This was the second nastiest room in the place, but thorough scrubbing and it looks pretty good!

Nice big living room. Yay! Not sure we'll ever use it as we have the little electric "wood stove" thing, but it has a real (and extremely large) fireplace.

One of the first things to be replaced here is carpet in the dining area. The mind boggles at who would ever thing this was a good idea:confused: Otherwise, happy to have a "coffee bar" and FINALLY got to do a open pots and pans rack (which I have wanted forever). I wish that stupid out of place half-moon thing wasn't there, but it would leave a bunch of screw holes in the cabinet if I were to take it down.

Kitchen required excessive scrubbing, but totally came out great. Tad cluttered, but it is pretty small. Oh, and the light fixture- that thing used to be behind Kiwi for a long time and I never knew what it was for. It apparently is a cover for a fluorescent light fixture and makes it look like a skylight when the light is on. Kinda cool!

I like the patio. It's pretty 'secluded' (can't see any neighbors on the sides) and just a nice place to hang out! That wood plank looking thing below the screen pulls up and becomes an outdoor "bar". It needs to be reinforced according to the home inspector, so we have yet to use it as we have yet to repair it!

It looks gorgeous! I'm more than a little jealous of your decorating skills. Don't get me wrong, I love my house, but it's so "blah" with the decorating. I wish I had your sense of style.

April, WOW! Your new place is gorgeous! I also love the loft area for your bedroom, what an amazing space!
Every single room is spectacular, and I am so green with envy over your pots rack that I can't see straight! Your decorating skills would be in high demand on the open market, everything you touch looks like a designer planned it.

That is a light cover in the kitchen? Is that clouds on it? Where on earth did you get that? It definitely looks like a skylight!

I am so happy for you, you now have your own home and no longer have to worry about the whims of others.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Looks really nice, April!! Your hard work has really paid off. Lots of room, especially vertical. Love the concept of a loft, and yes, the twin vanity configuration is odd. Enjoy!!

Pots and pans rack was the best idea ever. It's just so much easier to get everything! If there wasn't 15 trillion other people looking to be an interior designer, it may be something I actually look into;)

The 'skylight' thing is like a thick, flexible plastic with the clouds printed on. I found it in a thrift store ages ago and used to put it behind Kiwi in Arizona, not knowing what it was. When I started cleaning the fluorescent light in here and felt that the "stock" clear part lifted up, it was like a lightbulb went off. Googled it and sure enough- https://www.usaskypanels.com Who've ever guessed? I bet some of those would be nice up where you are come the very long Canadian winter:)

If you're ever in SoCal and want a "working vacation" I'd hire you!

April, thank you for the link!!! They are so reasonable!
I can see I need to copy you now:) You're right, that would be so nice during the long winters.
