Saw this idea elsewhere and thought it would be fun! :11:Share your ghost stories! I will have 2 to get you started!

Ok, I have two stories!
When my daughter was 4 years old she would sometimes sleep with, along with my son when hubs was away on business. Well, one night she woke me up and said "Mommy I have to go potty bad!" So I say, "Kate, then go!" She says, "The cloud lady is in the way!" So, I shot up in bed and there in the doorway is a feminine cloud figure! I swung Katie up in my arms and said "Watch out lady, she has to pee!" and ran right through her! The next morning we told my son what happened and he said" I can't believe you left me in the room with a ghost!" LOL!

6 yrs ago, Mike and I lived in a 125 yr old shore home. The faucets turned on and the hall light went off and on at will. The three dogs followed unseen figures at the same time. Well, my daughter moved back home due to school commitments so we moved over into the oldest part of the house. Around the 3rd night over there we were laying in bed, lights off and I said "Mike?" He said "Yeah, I hear it too!" Somewhere there was a party going on. Like on the Titanic. You could hear people laughing, glasses and silverware clinking, piano, violin and flutes playing. At first we were petrified and clung together at night. Then after about a week we felt comfort from the muted sounds. It actually put us to sleep. It occurred every single night for 5 yrs! Now, we have been in our new house for 2 yrs and we honestly miss our visitors.
Remember, it is not the dead that can hurt you, it's the living you have to watch out for!

Haha, this is pree cool. I have some scary stories myself. I'll tell you one that I SWEAR TO GOD IT HAPPENED. I have not made any of this up it is 100% true.

Okay, so here it goes. A few years back me and my sister were using a ouija board that we had got a looonng time ago from our parents on Halloween. We were sitting in our living room in California in complete dark with two candles on both sides of us and did the "Ritual" (keep in mind that we were doing this as a joke and didn't actually think this would work) and the thing started to move. I SWEAR TO GOD IT MOVED ON ITS OWN, all the way to the number 7. Me and my sister looked at eachother and wondered what the hell was happening and put our finger tips, hardly touching on the cursur, and asked who was there. It moved to the letters A-N-D-R-E. Andre? Okie dokey then. Me and my sister started asking this andre questions and thats when it started to get really weird. We asked him (or her?) to give us a sign that (it?) was there then our TV started flickering really fast, and my stereo turned on! We both got pretty freaked so we just turned on the lights and slammed the board shut. This person must have gotten pretty mad because our front door which was locked) swung open and our tap came on. Now my dog refuses to go into that room and will bark at me as if something is behind me.

Now, to some people they may beileve this is b.s and not true at all, but I didnt beileve in anything until that day. That was some scary stuff. >_< LOL Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me but it seemed pretty legit.

I hope you have since appologised to Andre ???
99% of spirits are not there to harm you and more often than not it is a member of your own family perhaps many years past

I was 3yrs old when my grandfather had a heart attack on the seat next to me and died
I still remember this very well and although traffic I always have a chuckle to myself about it

Why you ask would I laugh at my grand fathers death well 2 reasons
1: my nana had just made him a cuppa and he complained about her not bringing the biscuits so she went to get them
within this short time his heart attack happened
flash forward to a few years ago and we were going to scatter both their ashes
my grand dad turns up in my door way and says to me
SO DO I GET MY BISCUITS NOW !!!!!
I have always been able to feel him around me but it was cool to actually see him
once more

2: I hate praymantus and I mean hate
well at least I did until about 2years ago ( now I just dislike them)
my grandparents were keen gardeners and there were always heaps of praymantus at their house while I was pregnant my house had heaps and heaps of them in it ( yuck) then in the birthing room at hospital and one crawls on my hand
it was then I realized this was my grandparents way of saying they were around and looking after us
I always say hi when I see one now

It is so funny you bring this thread up, I was planning on posting my story as soon as I've got the footage sorted out.

I emptied the freezer to defrost last night. I then went to fetch towels to catch up the water and used my left foot to push it in front of the freezer. I did not use my hands cause I was holding Sterretjie. When I was done I stepped back with my left leg and all was fine but THE NEXT MOMENT THE TOWEL FOLLOWED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It actually lifted up into a tent shape and approached me WHILE I WAS STANDING STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
scared0008.gif
I looked at it and then stepped past it to run for the exit on my left. THE TOWEL FOLLOWED ME TO THE LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!! I ran screaming, holding on to Sterretjie -who bit me very eina! Craig then came running in to see what is going on, my heart was in my throat and I was so rattled I battled to speak.
crazy.gif

He did not believe that the towel followed me and started looking for a mouse or something. I told him it can NOT be a mouse because the cab under the freezer is less than 5mm!!! He took a broom and lifted the towel and there was nothing. I then remembered that the cameras were still on so that means EVERYTHING was recorder from 2 angles! We went and watched the footage for more than an hour trying to figure out what the hell happened. We even slowed it down to frame by frame and THIS TOWEL DID LIFT UP AND FOLLOW ME!

This morning I tried to copy it to windows movie maker to show you and believe it or not, the crucial seconds are gone! The footage jump from 17,50,58 to 17,51,06!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can watch it perfectly using the cctv software but for some reason other software loose those seconds?

Well I am going to try again tonight and show you. I WAS CHASED BY A TOWEL!:(

I think this is a silly thread. I do not have goosebumps...it is merely cold here this morning. I have nothing to post here. I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DO NOT WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING AT ALL TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS THREAD. AT ALL. NO ANIMATED TOWELS.NO STRANGE GHOST PARTIES IN HOUSE WALLS OR CLOUD VISITORS. I ALREADY HAVE HOARDS OF TEENAGERS AND THEIR CELLPHONES. ISN'T THAT ENOUGH? ????

Ack!!!!!!!!!!! hoards of teenagers and cellphones should be enough. Really! They materialize when least expected (often near mealtimes) and loom out of the dark speaking in strange tongues ("Sorry to wake you but hey mrs Bogomolov could you take a look at my knee? I hurt it skating tonight. ") They rattle ...they multiply ...the fridge mysteriously empties. Honestly teenagers SHOULD count. PLEASE. no animation of towels or cloud people!

PS, I think you left out some important things about teenagers.;) Mysteriously the area I JUST cleaned are dirtier than before. All the glasses walked to the room. The cloud people broke the window. The clothes magically left the cupboard and ended up on the floor. etc. etc.:D

Of Course the towel was animated. It MUST have been animated...or there were wires...perhaps mirrors, yes it was mirrors.

I didn't want to mention the way glasses dematerialize in cabinets and rematerialize in the living room... or the bedroom...or (gasp) out by the water. I didn't want to speak to how the cars all rearrange themselves in the driveway and garage at night and when you get in one to start it the next day, your classical station has turned into a Russian rock CD... or worse and American Rap CD. We won't talk about the strange lights and music that start and stop magically when you get out of bed to say something. And then their is the laundry pile that grows and grows and develops strange looking items of clothing in sizes that you are pretty sure that you didn't raise from babyhood.

But, I must admit, the whole gang bringing me individual roses on Mother's day and "making over our yard" made the hauntings of the year tolerable. Now, if only I could find my own kids in the crowd, I am using pictures for ID.

I LOVE SCARY STORIES!!!!

When I was 7 we moved from Toronto ON to Drumheller AB in Canada, back in the 70’s the installation of services was nowhere are quick as it is now. We were without a phone (so we thought!) for 2 months until Bell was able to come and install. At first it was my sisters and I who experienced the weird things that occurred and my parents thought we were making things up, at first it was footsteps, faint sounds of people talking right in our room. Then the phone we didn’t have yet started ringing in the basement! Every time we went to get my Mom it would stop, then one day she heard it when she was home alone. She went to our neighbor whose home was attached to ours and asked if their phone rang in the last 15 minutes, he said it hasn’t rang all day!
After my Mom heard the phone the activity increased and the feeling in the house was not pleasant, I remember being cold a lot. My Father had yet to experience anything and got mad at us and told us to stop imagining things until one night my parents were getting ready for bed, my Mom was in bed and my Father was closing the bedroom door and there was a shadow of a female on the wall. They grabbed all the kids and went to the police station. Apparently we were the 3rd family to live in the house which was only about 5 years old at that point, the family who lived there prior experienced similar things, turns out that the husband of the 1st family killed his wife there.
This was all in November 1979, on Christmas Eve of the same year the house burned down in the middle of the night and we barely made it out, we spent Christmas in a motel room. After the house was renovated the activity was worse and all I remember after that was moving and never feeling so relieved.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

You guys are scaring me here... oh... I guess that was the point. Wuvzbirdies, your story is literally terrifying. I can't imagine experiencing something like that...something that evil. I really have not had anything like that happen to me, but one of my colleagues in Bosnia says that in his grandfather's town, if you stand quietly on the hill in the dark, you can hear faint gun shots and shouting and the wailing of women. His grandfather and his brother both died and were buried in a mass grave there and Elvedin (who is not a fanciful person at all, far from it) says you can hear it many nights. When he first told me of it, I thought he was using a metaphor, that the ground cried out from the atrocity of it all, but he corrected me. He says you literally can hear the shots, the screams and the tears of the women an certain nights. I have never had the guts to go out there with him or his wife to hear it, and I don't go into that region anymore, or at least only rarely. I know that I do not have what it takes to calmly listen and remember.

I have 6 they get more scary as you go. *Caution if you're easily frightened do not read these*

1.

Coffins used to be built with holes in them, attached to six feet of copper tubing and a bell. The tubing would allow air for victims buried under the mistaken impression they were dead. In a certain small town Harold, the local gravedigger, upon hearing a bell one night, went to go see if it was children pretending to be spirits. Sometimes it was also the wind. This time, it wasn't either. A voice from below begged and pleaded to be unburied.
"Are you Sarah O'Bannon?" Harold asked.
"Yes!" The muffled voice asserted.
"You were born on September 17, 1827?"
"Yes!"
"The gravestone here says you died on February 20, 1857."
"No, I'm alive, it was a mistake! Dig me up, set me free!"
"Sorry about this, ma'am," Harold said, stepping on the bell to silence it and plugging up the copper tube with dirt. "But this is August. Whatever you are down there, you sure as hell ain't alive no more, and you ain't comin' up."

2.

My cousin and I had gone to San Antonio, and we had heard rumors of some haunted railroad tracks. The story was, a school bus full of children had stalled on these tracks with a train coming. The train was going too fast for there to be time to get the children off. So they all died. When we finally found the tracks, we stopped the car, parking it right on the railroad tracks. We were both a little nervous, and scared, and waited for something to happen. Just when we were about to leave, the car started rolling. We were both too freaked out to do any more than grab each other and gasp, eyes wide, mouths open. After what seemed like an eternity, (but was actually less than five minutes tops) the car stopped rolling. We looked around, and we were off the railroad tracks.

Now, that may not seem spooky, but what we saw next scared us enough to jump back in the car and make the six hour trip home THAT NIGHT. Both of us got out of the car and walked around to the back. After the first six hour drive, our car had accumulated quite a bit of dust on it. That's not scary, no. But what was scary was the little sets of handprints all over the back of the car. All the size of children's hands.

3.

When you are admitted to a hospital, they place on your wrist a white wristband with your name on it. But there are other different colored wristbands which symbolize other things. The red wristbands are placed on dead people.

There was one surgeon who worked on night shift in a school hospital. He had just finished an operation and was on his way down to the basement. He entered the elevator and there was just one other person there. He casually chatted with the woman while the elevator descended. When the elevator door opened, another woman was about to enter when the doctor slammed the close button and punched the button to the highest floor. Surprised, the woman reprimanded the doctor for being rude and asked why he did not let the other woman in.

The doctor said, "That was the woman I just operated on. She died while I was doing the operation. Didn’t you see the red wristband she was wearing?"
The woman smiled, raised her arm, and said, "Something like this?"

4.

There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.

As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredible detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many hateful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.
The next morning, the hunter awoke - he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.

5.

Have you ever gotten a glimpse of something out of the corner of your eye? A simple movement caught in your peripheral vision. Most will simply dismiss this as a shadow brought about by a flickering candle, or perhaps a pet jumping down from a piece of furniture. Ninety-nine out of a hundred times, these people are right.

But then there's that one elusive sight. It can easily be explained by the above conditions, but something feels wrong about it. A chill down your spine, a slight pain in your side. Maybe even a complete blanking of your mind, only to recede moments later.
Should any of these symptoms be felt, there may be cause for worry. Our peripheral vision is designed to catch motion, even in the dark. This was used to defend against predators in our early days, and as with many aspects of our human nature, it has remained, but weakened.

This view out of the corner of our eyes still alerts us to danger, and although predators have dropped on the list of dangers we may face today, they still exist. Should you ever feel that queer chill in your back, try not to focus on that shadow you saw in the corner of your eye. It might be better not to see.

6.

Many classic horror icons, such as Geger’s xenomorphs, Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head, and other disturbing creatures, share common characteristics. Pale skin, dark, sunken eyes, elongated faces, sharp teeth, and the like. These images inspire horror and revulsion in many, and with good reason. The characteristics shared by these faces are imprinted in the human mind.
Many things frighten humans instinctively. The fear is natural, and does not need to be reinforced in order to terrify. The fears are species-wide, stemming from dark times in the past when lightning could mean the burning of your tree home, thunder could be the approaching gallops of a stampede, predators could hide in darkness, and heights could make poor footing lethal.

The question you have to ask yourself is this:
What happened, deep in the hidden eras before history began, that could effect the entire human race so evenly as to give the entire species a deep, instinctual, and lasting fear of pale beings with dark, sunken eyes, razor sharp teeth, and elongated faces?
… Just be careful out there.

*Side note i have some stories of my own. I own 2 homes a summer home on the lake built in 2000 and my regular home. My normal home is built on the site of a settlement from the 1800's. the house i live in was rebuilt in the 1930's and modified in the 1970's. I live on what was the cemetery of the 1800's settlement. I have more than my fair share of creepy stories.*

@Bogo and Cass

It helps when one of your best friends was one of the guys who came up with stories for the book "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark", i have tons but most are a little to scary and have some pg-13 content.

Here is one of my creepy stories 100% real.

I was currently (at the time) a police officer and had just called into dispatch (After our meeting) that i was on duty for midnight shift. Well I live in a small farming community and almost nothing ever happens. I was patrolling a small rural road in Kentucky. As i was going down the road i noticed a women waving her arms. I pulled over and called in for back up, i got out of the car to see what was the matter. I immediately noticed she was bleeding, i told her to stay there and called for an ambulance and fire truck. I then got back out and she yelled at me to hurry up. She and her husband had hit a deer and flew off into a very large creek. She kept noting she had a small infant in the car that i had to save her baby. I told her to go back and wait by my cruiser why i went to check. Well low and behold when i jumped down into the creek i heard an infants cry. As i got closer I could make out two shapes in the car. I pulled out my fire arm since the lady had said only her and her husband and an infant were in the car. I flashed my light at the car, i then heard my back up yelling for me. I walked backward to the edge of the creek and told him to watch the girl.

"What girl!?" he replied, i ran back up the hill and she was gone, vanished into thin air. I told my back up to call in for more backup. As i was crawling back down into the creek i went to the car. There she was, her and her husband had died in the crash. I looked in the back seat and saw a small toddler not even a year old sleeping. We pulled the baby out of the car and called it a night.

My back up later asked me why i was asking him to look for a girl. I told him i had made a mistake and it had been a long night...

(for another cop reading this, sorry i didn't post all the call ins or the wreck report or all the million other things *Yay paper work* i had to do before clocking out)
(Also have some good stories from when i worked in a prison)
