Apparently zygodactyl feet are too weird! They're one of the coolest things about parrots but non-bird people seem to not notice that it's two pointing forward, two pointing back. Ever notice that?

For example there's a pokemon based off of a lovebird, but his feet would say otherwise:

But more recently it seems like they're getting the bird feet right:

Digimon has Parrotmon, which I guess is acceptable since he has arms too, but poor thing apparently lost two toes:

Then you get wikihow illustrations, which are a strange sight in their own right:

What is going ON with those FEET???

this poor hyacinth budgie is not only being yelled at, but apparently only has two toes!

This one is slightly better until you realize that he has 3 toes pointing forward on one foot and 2 pointing forward on the other!

More three toe madness!

I just think it's funny how inconsistent parrot feet are drawn!

As a bonus though, I think the weirdest looking bird feet just has to be Birdramon from digimon:

5 TOES!!! AND TEETH!!!

Not to say it's bad or anything, everyone is entitled to draw their character however they want. It is pretty funny to see how weird they can look sometimes though.

I love drawing parrot (dinosaur) feet. Gail, one of your recent parrot portraits was an excellent example of how parrot feet should be drawn.

Thanks, Allee!

I mean, COUNT, people, COUNT!

Funny thing, though... I don't mind when Homer Simpson has four fingers... but I don't.

General Artist get it wrong all the time. I do not think that they are doing it with menus, only not taking the time to research their subject.

One of the very best works with presenting, in this case Eagles, is in the continuation of the "Lord of the Rings," the Hobbit stories: Hobbit an unexpected journey (all three Hobbit segments include segments using the eagles). The slow motion animation of Eagles in flight and the use of their talons to lift and carry is beyond words. Whoever or whatever group of individuals spend vast amounts of time studying Eagles in their full range of flight and use of their talons!

When I am explaining the mechanics of flight, I use those segments as examples.

When they take the time to get it right, it really looks amazing, especially when they have a lot of budget going into making the CGI.

Going back to Pokemon, in the recent batch of new Pokemon, it looks like they've been working hard to make them look more accurate to birds. The current games are based on Hawaii and they even have birds based off of all the honeycreeper species they have. I love it when creators take the extra effort to make a bird more accurate. In the game, they mixed the honeycreepers with different kinds of dancers:

Of course this doesn't mean that they have to mess with creativity too. Decidueye, shown here, has proper 2 pointing forward/backward feet for owls but he clearly has a robin hood theme going on too:

Having both creativity and accuracy = a recipe for awesome in my opinion.

I agree! So frustrating! But my favorite thing about this post is your comment about the hyacinth budgie..
