Hello everyone. The whole family is here at my parents' place snowed in behind 3 or more feet of snow. It's been going since yesterday! Haven't seen a storm like this in years.

Who else is being affected by crazy weather this week?

That storm you are dealing with started out in the Western Plain States earlier last week and worked its way across the Continent then up the Eastern Coastline to bring itself to you! Sounds like you are getting the worst of it as it pulls moisture and strength from the Gulf Stream.

Shortly, it will pull off the North American Coast and head towards England. God Save the Queen!

Be safe, we're thinking of you!

We had 90cm of snow fall in over two days followed by a centimetre or so of freezing rain. All the highways to and from Vancouver were shut down at one point. I was tempted to buy a daffodil and shove it into the snow up to the bloom then photograph it so I could brag to the easterners about all the wonderful weather the west coast was having ... ;)

I like it when it gets like that. Snow covering everything, softening the edges, and how it makes everything sooo quiet.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
We've had an abundance of rain in Southern California, but it is a mere nuisance compared with a damaged dam upstate and the colder climates to the north.

How much snow did you get? I visited Nova Scotia from Brooklyn a long time ago, took the Prince Fundy ferry, then stayed in a couple bed/breakfast, drove up the French coast and went all the way to Cape Breton and ate in a restaurant. It was a dreamy, but kind of scary trip, I probably should have taken someone along.
