Hey guys, I thought it might be fun to talk about horror movies that are known for being "terrifying", when they actually aren't. Obviously there's going to be spoilers.
The Shining
I watched it this year with my cousin. I've always heard people talking about how scary this movie is, so I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about. It turns out this movie is actually quite boring. And annoying. Like, when the kid is riding around on his tricycle, it's SO LOUD! And the part where the kid's watching The Roadrunner Show. Until now, I hadn't realized just how annoying that theme song is. There's a bunch of other boring and/or strange things in the movie, but I think the part that really highlights how "dumb" (no offence to anyone who loves/is terrified of the movie) this movie is, is the scene at the end when !SPOILER! Jack (is his name Jack? You know, the father) is found frozen solid in the hedge maze, with the stupidest look on his face.
Oh, and I just remembered something else! I almost forgot about that weird kid thinking a little boy lived in his mouth, and he'd have conversations with his finger/the boy. If the boy was in his mouth, why was he having weird finger-bending conversations?

The whole time, I was hoping Jack would kill his stupid wife. Sadly, he didn't.
The Sixth Sense
I saw this when I was maybe 12, and I didn't find it scary. I found this movie absolutely heartbreaking. I cried for a long time after I watched the movie. When my mom walked in and was worried because I was crying, I told her that I'd just watched The Sixth Sense (when she watched it when it came out, I think she said she found it creepy, as did my father). My parents were surprised by how upset I was after watching it. Even at such a young age (well, not THAT young), I didn't find it creepy. That part when the kid goes to that wake or whatever...was absolutely depressing. Like, my gosh, that poor girl. Such a betrayal of trust by someone she trusted! I found that scene really disturbing and heatbreaking.
Or that part where the SPOILER about one of the main characters is revealed. I think we all know that SPOILER. The realization when said character finds out the truth is just so sad! Man, that movie was just depressing.
Child's Play (aka "Chucky")
This movie wasn't scary. Dolls are creepy as heck, and a movie with a creepy doll possessed by the spirit of a killer should be TERRIFYING. It was not. I saw it last year with two of my friends. My one friend was absolutely terrified, but she's an absolute whimp. She was freaked out when we watched some episodes of Goosebumps (that series was terrifying when I saw it when I was 5, but it turns out it has really bad acting and that none of the episodes are actually scary...), so the fact that she found Child's Play scary means nothing. I mean, this girl fainted from watching a video in class on "digestion".
Anyways, this movie is actually kind of funny. The characters are incredibly stupid. Especially the doctors (and were there cops? If there were cops in the movie, they were stupid too). Somehow, the tiny doll is able to push a fully grown woman out of an apartment window. I don't really remember it all that well, but I wasn't creeped out at any point. To be honest, I think I was actually rooting for Chucky to kill all of those stupid people.

My parents (at least my mom) always said this movie was terrifying. It was not terrifying. Can't really remember it, but it was creepy in the slightest.
