Aaaand the move from Hawaii is officially in progress!! Ok ok, I just bought moving boxes. But still! The actual move should happen in July if all goes well. Between the dog, cat, 40 parrots, fish, and a human baby on the way it's going to be INSANE getting us all across the ocean and all the way to GA but THANK GOD for good friends willing to help especially with the birds!

And when we get there the ringies are getting an AVIARY! They will be staying with a friend here in Hawaii first and then a friend in GA who has an aviary for them while I get mine set up. And since I'm already waddling like a duck with a huge belly (I have the world's shortest waist) it should be hysterical to watch me build an aviary in my 3rd trimester. Seriously. Wish me luck! I'll post updates on the progress of the pets as I get them! All in all I'll have pets staying in at least 4 places other than with me as we make this happen.

Dani, good luck on everything going smoothly during this major transition. That's a lot of animals to deal with moving. Why don't you just rehome them all? I'm SO kidding. Big changes coming for you soon. Completely different scenery, and baby coming :)!

Well some of the birds leave for South Dakota next week and will be driven down by my mom after we have a house.

Other birds are going to another place in Hawaii for a while, then sent to another place in Georgia where my friend will keep them for a while.

The dog and cat will travel with me to Minnesota where they will stay with my husband's brother and sister in law until my mom picks them up to bring them down (after we find a house).

Basically a lot of airplane and car travel.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Ahhh, but think of how bored you will be once the move is complete! :D

That is one incredible push (not yet, no pun intended) to vacate Hawaii and reconstitute your extended family! Would be nice if a kindly billionaire lent you use of a large corporate jet!

Is the military able/willing to provide use of transport for your animals? I know the USAF has all sorts of lift with spare capacity at times.

It would be nice! Anyone know a bird loving billionaire?

The army will hopefully (still not sure) pay to move ME but not the birds.

Oh and once the move is complete all be trying to survive motherhood lol. I think I'll be anything but bored. Haggard, sleep deprived, a little bit on the crazy side, but hopefully not bored. I hate boredom.

You are much stronger willed than I am. I totally wouldn't have gotten anything done. He is too cute laying there to move for a measly box. [emoji14]

Well we have been here for 3 years and have loved it, but we are ready to be closer to family (read, we are ready for visits to cost less than $1500 per person) and the army doesn't actually give you a choice haha. We just make the best out of what we are told :)

Newest development: call and explain in detail to the mortgage officer that we live in Hawaii, and could she PLEASE stop calling at 3:24AM? This is with our regular bank which has always been so good about time zones in the past.

It's always actually a little comical when people realize what they have done. It's ok lady, we know you would never do that on purpose! I'm assuming this particular department must sort time zones based on the zip code of the home we are trying to buy which is 6 hours later in the day.

Half the birds are gone!

The first wave of pets has left to stay with my sister in SD until we close on a house.

Movers are scheduled for June 24th

Rest of the birds leave July 1st

Dog leaves for MN around July 5

Cat leaves for GA around July 5

I leave for SD around July 10

And then a bunch of random things happen before we all get back together again lol.

Best of luck to you and the rest of the flock, Dani. I can't say I envy you, but at least some of the upcoming changes have got to be exciting!
