What are your favourite books/author? A book that has earned a permanent place on your book case, the bedside drawer etc... A book you return to frequently, whether it is for sentimental reasons, pleasure... You get the gist! Maybe there are multiple books. What about the book captivated you? Do you have a specific genre you find yourself returning to?

A fellow Book Worm ;)

Shogun. Itā€™s a fantastic love/political/war story. Iā€™m not a re-reader because there are too many books I still havenā€™t read, but I do go back to this one every 10 years or so, and I still love it every time.

James Clavell is one of my favorite authors. Shogun, Tai Pan, King Rat, and Noble house are phenomenal! Allee ingeniously incorporated HAL's "eye" into my name!

Great topic!!

2001 a Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke is my all time favorite novel and movie.

First saw 2001 on the big screen when it debuted in 1968. The theme and visual grandeur was seared into my 10 year old brain forever! I have read the novel countless times as well as the many "explanatory" books and articles. Recently saw the film for the infinite time on a big screen with 70mm projection at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. While a work of SciFi, the notion an alien race tinkered with our ancestors rings plausible. But to paraphrase Clarke, the truth is always far stranger!

Yeah, I'm a fan! Have an autographed hardback in a protective case and purchased the Taschen 2001 collector set, encased in a powder coated case resembling the Monolith.

You'll notice my dear friend and fellow moderator Allee incorporated the theme central to my custom signature line at bottom of every post! Allee brilliantly incorporated HAL's eye into my name!

I have been addicted to Stephen King books lately. I started reading them last year.
Although there are so many books that have earned a permanent home with me, my favorites are,

Peirs Anthony- On A Pale Horse
Stephen King- The Stand
Stephen King- Salemā€™s Lot
and the entirety of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King as well.

I guess I return to the fiction/horror and fiction/crime stories type of books more although I was completely captivated by On A Pale Horse by Piers Anthony, that book is part of a series called The Incarnations which means more books will soon find their way to my shelf. I also get inspired to write myself because I read so much and my dreams can be a little weird so my boyfriend and I have been working on 8 series together for the last three years and now we are working on getting a publisher.

Iā€™ve read all of them! Theyā€™re all excellent. I havenā€™t read Whirlwind and I think itā€™s out of print. I recently borrowed the audiobook from the library, but itā€™s about 56 hours long so Iā€™d never finish it in my allotted 3 weeks. Somewhere around here I have the paperback....

I read the Incarnations series back in the 80s and LOVED it. Tried it again a few years ago on audio and wanted to toss it out the car window. ā˜¹ļø I was so disappointed. I think listening to things hits a different part of your brain than reading them; I was more aware how repetitive it got. But Iā€™m glad youā€™re enjoying it because I really did love it the first time around.

Honestly I can never listen to audio books. It just doesnā€™t sound right vs reading it to myself. Its really upsetting because people my age nowadays just donā€™t love reading or writing. I think reading and writing is one of the best things to do on my free time.

I live in fear that someday, my apartment will sink from the weight of all the books I've accumulated over the years. :D Mystery novels dominate the shelves. My collection of Sherlock Holmes books takes up much of the shelf space. Other mystery authors represented include Agatha Christie, Rex Stout and John D, MacDonald. One unique mystery novel that is one of my favorites was written by the creator of Winnie the Pooh-- A.A. Milne's The Red House Mystery. Another favorite is The Haunted Bookshop by Christopher Morley.

I forgot to mention the Sherlock Holmes books! I love those books as well!

I have a long commute at least twice a week. Audiobooks make it bearable.

No audio books? AUDIBLE IS LIFE!!!

I much prefer to read to myself but I just donā€™t have the time anymore. There is almost always a book on in this house these days :)

Check out your local library-ours has mp3 audiobooks available. Way more affordable than Audible (as in free). [emoji2]

Terry Goodkind. Wizard's First Rule is the first, I will say, unless you hate it, read the first 2 books before you decide to keep going or not. 1 sets up the series, 2 launches it. JMO. There is 17 books in the original series, and they are currently up to book 2 of a spin-off, which I have yet to buy the newest one that came out this month. I'll probably wait a few more months until I finish the WOT series tho.
