Not THAT "S" word, the OTHER "S" word;) I mean the one that when it happens in Portland throws the whole city into chaos for days afterwards. I'm talking snow. Bleeping *&^%!@# snow:mad: It's not that I inherently hate snow, we used to live in the mountains where it snowed a lot every winter, but I do hate when it snows here. I ran a couple errands earlier, the roads were wet but not icy and people were already driving like &^%$.

Been snowing all morning (though not sticking) and now it's starting to dust the grass, trees and is expected to start sticking to roads this afternoon. Expected up to 8" in some areas! Last time we got 8" of snow, we were trapped for days because they don't plow or salt or gravel the roads except the most major thoroughfares and leave the bulk of public roads to just melt off naturally:rolleyes:. Then the next 2 days, there's forecast to be a small amount of additional snow accumulation:34: I'm crossing my fingers we only get an inch or 2 where we are, but snow is always so unpredictable here how much to expect and where it'll accumulate. This morning the forecast was 1-3" now it's up to 3-8. At least the kiwisaurus is happy sitting next to his window watching it come down❄️:green:

Well, yuck! We, too, use the "S word" in Cleveland! But at least we're used to it, and we have excellent road and public services to address it. The Rickeybird saw his first S word when we moved up from New Mexico. He was about 15, and was astounded by it! Stared out the window and screamed.

Glad you're safe and warm!

So, here in the Great White North nearing the end of February, its Raining and 62 degrees! Three Days ago it was much near normal with snow of the ground, a chill in the air and clouds.

It started Raining nearing 48 hours ago with temperatures on a stead rise. At present, on Frozen Ground, we have received 2" of rain! With Frozen Rivers the wash-off the Frozen Ground has only one effect: Flooding, in February!

Like near anywhere, Humans driving on dry (okay non-snow covered roads) for as few as five days, forget everything about driving on it!

Well now I know where our mid-range forecast is picking-up the return of snow!

What is it about Snow Falling from the sky that catches the attention of Parrots! Julio will watch it as long as it continues to fall. BUT, his all time favorite is Sunshine!!! His vantage point of he World has a large set of windows both the East and South sides of the home. Should a cloud pass-by when he is Sunning himself! That cloud receives a royal display of displeasure! :D

I feel your pain, I’m north of you on the coast in Washington. We got a bit of snow on Sunday, and it amazes me how few people can drive here when the white stuff shows up. They don’t plow most roads here either, and it creates chaos!

I grew up on the Canadian prairies, so snow was always just one of the seasons to me :). My birds have only seen snow a couple of times - so they think its fun to look out the windows and watch it fall (while I say unkind words lol).

I love the snow personally, though right now in Philly it's been in the low 70's today and will be tomorrow too, but rain after that and likely through most of the weekend. I do enjoy this weather though, I'm just not looking forward to what comes after spring! That's the real "s" word for me!

I’m feeling your pain too - just north of Seattle. We got a little sprinkling of snow, and I don’t think we’re supposed to get any more, but lord have mercy it’s COLD out there!!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Portland is such a beautiful city!! I'd imagine a dusting of snow would look great, though it does contribute to gridlock!

Whew! Thankfully the weather guys were wrong as it appears we only got a little bit where we are (down on the southeast fringes of the metro area). So long as it rains today, it'll be gone quickly! I bet it'll still be chaos out on the roads this morning. Very glad I don't have to go out in it.

As well those devious clouds should. Blocking Julio's sun while he's sitting in it. An indefensible crime against amazons!:p

Snow does that over here with the drivers on the road and strangely over here rain has the same effect! you'd think a country famed for being wet we would know how to drive in the rain but nope!

Sometimes it makes one wonder how some of these idiots out on the roads ever got a drivers license in the first place!

same here Kiwi, I'm amazed at how some drivers behave yet according to insurers I'm the high risk on the road >_> for one thing many people over a certain age believe you're allowed to drive 10MPH above the speed limit and that on our highways you're supposed to sit in the outside lane instead of only using it to overtake

Getting a drivers license is the easy part, four to six half-hour sessions driving with an 'Instructor,' take a quiz (which they provide the questions with the answers in a study guide) pay the money and that pretty much it!

And, just to make it really fun, lets add smart phones to the mix. Nothing like texting in the snow or rain. Well, okay, anytime!

Rain stopped last night with the total just north of 2.85". We are high and dry, but the low landers have been evacuating since yesterday. Since the entire watershed received heavy rains, it will be days before the Rivers crest in this area.

The Storm is moving East and the East Coast News people are already sending out 'onsite' reporters to gather critical comment on the heavy rains! :D
