The Raven's Nest

Some of you may remember that I posted about my CAG being nervous over the raven’s making a nest in tree in the backyard.
I snapped a few photos with my good camera and a telephoto zoom lens and I was just getting around to looking at them.

This will give you an idea of how tall the tree is. Just below the bottom of the photo is a storage shed that I did not include in the photo so the tree is not shown from the ground up so to speak. In the tree top I circled the ravens head where it is sticking out of the nest. You may have to look hard.

As a side note Bella has become at ease with the new neighbor's.

Proof positive that our Parrots have much better eye sight and are much more in tune to the World around them.

It amazes me; Humans have advanced and the result is that they are so tied into their mobile devises they barely notice the World around them. Parrots have become Companions and live in Human's homes, but still are fully aware of the World around them.

Wait... you must be in a different part of so-cal than I am if it’s a raven. I have never seen a Raven in person. Only Crows. I’ve read that ravens are more solitary than crows, and are in areas of less human population. They’re not in the suburbs where I am. I’d love to see one though.

I live in the Antelope valley, High desert.

the Ravens are all over the place. the local high school team calls it's self The Ravens.

I work in El Segundo near LAX. Hundreds of crows roost close by. I don't know what the attraction is to that area. It's near the Mettel buildings.

There is a family of crows that live on the grounds where I work. Because I feed them some of my lunch they have learned to recognise me on sight. They are so darn smart. When they see me they deliberately fly near me in a way that guaranties I will see them.

They are fun to watch and I have been following this group of extended family members for years now,

Very cool! Hopefully you can get some pics when the little ones start fledging!

Ravens are extremely smart, right on par with parrots. Growing up, I recall hearing about a particular raven had to be removed and relocated by the wildlife department from a local park because it had picked up the "colorful" language and mannerisms of all the drunk/druggie bums who lived under the bridge by the park and it would curse at and harass the children for fun lol.

Great shot of your new neighbor!

Ravens really are wickedly smart! I once watched one make up a game on the spot with one of my sons. Most impressive!

Lots of birds call this tree home.
I have seen Starlings for sure, sparrows/finches, and I think a mockingbird has a nest in there.

If the tree ever gets trimmed it will leave a lot of birds 🦅 homeless.
