We returned yesterday from a 2 week vacation and all is well. Thank GOD!!
I was a nervous wreck leaving Levi, as this was the first time I was not able to bring him along.
The end of the month will mark two years since we got him and he's never been left behind.

I tried my best to prepare him by visiting my MIL twice a week for a month prior to leaving him with her. I taught her how to receive FaceTime calls on her iPad and my family of 3 called him EVERYDAY and spoke with him. I got this wonderful tip from WRENCH. :heart: It was tough calling and seeing him immediately lifting his leg for me to pick him up.
He is for the most part out of his cage when we're home and here he was confined to his cage for two weeks. UGH We were concerned for his and her safety if she let him out. Also, trying to get him back in could have been a disaster. So, we made the decision that he would stay caged. It was difficult, but the right decision all around. I was also concerned he wouldn't eat well for her. Luckily, he was only down 2 gms.
I had 3 options and leaving him with Grandma was indeed the least stressful for him.
My MIL enjoyed him SOOOO Much, that she wanted us to leave him another night ...ha
She also made me promise to visit more often and bring Levi. In esscence Levi has a new admirer.

I could not have pulled this off successfully without this forum. I have learned so much from all of you seasoned Parronts and I am grateful!

When we arrived at the house yesterday Levi came running to the front of the cage as soon as he heard my voice. And was immediately Velcro-boy and still is. He is very happy to be home and we are as well.

So many thanks to all of the members within these forums.

It was good, she thoroughly enjoyed his whistles & talking. She really got a kick out of him.

Yes thanks, we had a lovely time. My son was in his glory, we spent two weeks with my parents and sister. One week at my parent’s house in FL and one week in Daytona Beach.
So, every time I called my MIL I had everyone saying hello to Levi. hehehe

That sounds amazing! I'm so glad your son had a wonderful time, and I'm sure your family was thrilled to see you all.

There is no question that Skype and the other face to face communication devices has lessened the pain of separation.

Thanks Terry, John Luke adores my parents. It was so nice to spend quality time with them. We haven’t seen them in a while.

I have to admit, if we weren’t able to FaceTime, I’m not so sure I would have left him.
His first time away from us and all. I was worried he’d think we abandoned him.
I tried to explain, but what does he know about vacation. ???

Oh me too! 😬 It was harder than I thought.
When we had dogs our parents always watched them when we went away. But, leaving Levi was definitely more difficult for me.

The love is mutual, I promise. ❤️

And yes, I spoke to her today and she is missing him very much! We are going down on Sat to pick up his big cage, I told her I’d bring him.
She was so happy. 😄 Priceless Indeed!
