Struggle

I struggle with explaining myself and sometimes it causes reactions from others and comments that are unsettling to me. I know there are others out there too with the similar problems. I think I should not have come back on and concentrate on my home life.

I want to leave this post by saying that how we speak to others is important.

Caique walk, what happened that upset you? Maybe you can stick around and help remind us to treat people kindly, unless they are being harmful to a parrot. I have had some of my best personal growth during struggles. I can be direct or blunt, but I always mean well, and forget that doesn't always come across when posting. People have different opinions and I respect that, but it's important to express yourself too. I hope you stick around, and I am sorry you don't feel welcome. Sometimes the majority isn't always right. Sometimes hard truths do have to addressed, and the correct information out out there. Your voice does belong here and even conflicting views bring fresh info and perspective.

^^I hope you read what I wrote in reply your last message. (see link).

YOU EXPRESSED YOURSELF WELL---please don't feel discouraged! I always want to know if I say something wrong, so I tend to treat others as I would like to be treated...then again, I am an odd-ball anyway, so that sometimes backfires. I thought I was being cordial, so if I was too blunt about the psittacosis vs psittacine thing, then I really am sorry (I had no idea that you would take it to heart)...Maybe it wasn't me who upset you--either way, I feel bad!

I'm one of those awkward people that always says something to piss someone off without meaning to. Meh, you learn to live with it.

This very post probably has someone steaming mad.

@noodles
I think the way that you enquired about mistake was very resonable and was not the reason for this post. Sorry if it seemed that way. I had to just clarify that.

I just need a break from the internet. Thanks for all the messages though.

Well, thanks! I do hope you come back when you are ready though.
The internet is a worm-hole at times..Don't let it get you down. Half of the internet is made up of 12-year-old trolls with massive egos....(not here lol, but elsewhere)---just remember you are welcome here!

Oh my, this is so important in modern day living. Spending too much of your time online can cause people to lose their grip on reality, just check out how many people walk around like zombies glued to their phones...... surrounded by people and yet, feeling totally alone and unfulfilled.

I play quite a bit of on-line gaming and I enjoy being on forums such as this as I am surrounded by people who are passionate and willing to share the knowledge, without this I can guarantee that Enzo would not be so well cared for, so it adds to my level of enjoyment in life. The rest of my internet use is purely educational for me and also my career in IT. In my forum/gaming life, I jump in and out when I feel I need my fix or the knowledge, I find this a good balance for me and again it feels good to help somebody else if ever i can

As mentioned above, the internet is full of 12yr old trolls and oh so many grumpy b*****ds, don't let it get to you, contribute and be part of the community as and when you feel the need and all will be well. Also, realise, it is actually quite difficult to get a point across with the correct emotional input through pure text, everybody struggles with it so if you read a post and it gets your blood boiling, try reading it again with a more positive angle...just in case.

(we all know it is waaaay to cold for just underpants in the Brittish Isles at this time of year! They are expecting snow at the end of this week ;) )

Caiquewalk - Plze do not worrie, if we really get obnoxious the mods will kick our arses (I speak from experience / I f#ck up a lot -> things go wrong in translation between languages or even worse cultures, I struggle with both!)

The internets really sucks, but is also great.
Do not let it get to you too much. We all love parrots, so that kind of makes us a large family, and like all families we have ups and downs (and there is always that grumpy uncle nobody really likes sitting in the corner / haven't found him yet .. so it might even be me :D )

As you've said, how we treat others is very important. But on the flip side of the coin, always keep in mind how easy it can be to misconstrue the spirit/intent behind the posted word without the clarifying context of tone or facial cues. Sometimes the benign intent of a post can be obscured or even totally lost in translation. Know what I mean?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
If you feel the need to take a break, we'll always be here to welcome you back. Most of our discussions are mellow, but the ones dealing with life-and-death issues are difficult.

What you did for the lorikeet was compassionate... be kind to yourself!
