With the wonderful weather that has been given to much of us in the northern US, I just thought I'd post a reminder for those of you who also feed our wild feathered friends that they are stuck dealing with it as well. So don't forget to fill your feeders or like I had to, empty all the piled snow out of the platform feeders so they can actually get to what you're offering.

I'm a big advocate for our native birds!! Thank you!! I use the Walmart no melt suet crumble for all the insect eateres like blue birds, warblers, wood peckers.. right now in Florida the gold finches have come for the winter, so I have thistle and millet out for them. Glad you ate giving a helping hand to wildlife!!!! Live all those little foot prints!!!

Thank you so much for the picture of snow! I actually felt my body temperature go down just looking at it. LOL! It's been over forty degrees Celsius down here for the past fortnight and is expected to continue to be for the next who-knows-how-long!

Thank you for considering the wild birds. Ours are doing it tough too, with the drought at its height and the heat hotter than it's been in recorded history. I posted on a local group asking people to put out cool water for the wild birds and two women actually argued with me, saying 'the wildlife looks after itself, you shouldn't interfere'. This, when birds are actually dropping from the trees from heat exhaustion!

From now on, every time I put my ice-laden water bowl out for the wild birds, I'll think of you clearing snow out of your feeder and smile. :)

Absolutely important! When you are teaching the wild birds they have a food source from you, they become dependent on that! So you really must keep it up!

I don't have birds at my door but I do feed opossums lol. The last 1-2 hangers-on from neonates I raised this past season, the only two with brains who decided to stick around the porch caging as there is food and water nightly and warm beds... hahaha.
