I took the dog to Petsmart to get him some new toys, and decided to check out the bird section. Good thing I did.. I found a little something for the future indoor aviary for the parakeets. 24”, it says it’s some type of naturally shaped hardwood root. It was marked 1/2 price and the last one left :). How cool is this!

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
It is a vine actually ;)
no use in vivaria because they rot like crazy when they get wet.
But really decorative.

Not all vines are safe for birds btw.

I just googled it, and it appears to be Liana wood vine. The tag said root. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liana <— interesting :).

The aviary will be made when we get further along remodeling and replacing much of the original structure of the house. One room at a time. Until then I’ll have to slave away tediously cleaning the flight cages (ugh).

I'm curious how long it will last with your small/medium sized birds, Julie. I got Kiwi a perch like that years ago and he had chewed right through it before the afternoon was over!

It will be for the budgies or the other Australian parakeets. The tiny/small guys with small beaks. But then again, you should see what budgies can do with those tiny beaks lol! Oh well, it was on sale :).
