This day, 75 years ago, thousands of young men came ashore along the Western beaches of France. Thousands never made it much beyond the beach head. The Longest Day, ended with those forces succeeding in establishing the beach head and moving inland.

The Freedom that so many enjoy across this World today, was assured that day. During your travels this day; Please thank a Veteran for their assuring our Freedom. The number of those that came ashore that day is shrinking rapidly and our remembrance of their individual efforts by thanking a Veteran is a kind thank-you that those that served and lived is carried in the hearts of all Veterans. The Veteran you thank will likely ask that you remember the heroes, those that died that day and every day since in the service of their Country and the World.

Freedom is not Free, it requires individuals that stand every day to protect it.

A loving thank-you to my Father and all the others for their service to our Country and all the people of this World. Dad, your generation has set a standard we honor and work to emulate!

A thank-you for all the Veterans here on Parrot Forums, my fellow member’s family members, extended family and friends! You and yours’ are not forgotten!

In honor of my Father and Uncles, yes. I recall as if it was yesterday, the tears in his eyes the day I left for service and his words: I'm so very sorry Steven, it was my hope that as a result of my service, my sons would not need to.

The freedoms we enjoy today came at the sacrifice of so many lives, God willing we may never face the likes of those terrible global conflagrations ever again!

“They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget”

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Thank you Steven for eloquently stating essential truths. I will be forever grateful to the "Greatest Generation" from a multitude of nations who sacrificed mightily for our freedoms and comforts.
