This has nothing to do with parrots. I just wondered if anyone else was as excited about it as I am. I read the book that was printed in 1912 and again when the same book was reprinted a few years ago. The movie was great but the true account was....well...it was true. A local museum hosted an exhibit that my oldest son and I had been dying to see, neither of us could go due to a scheduling conflict but my husband and youngest son did attend even though neither of them were all that interested, years later I’m still bitter. So when I heard about a new opportunity I was delighted, I sent the link to my oldest son, he texted me back immediately, “Yes Mom, we will definitely go down with that ship!” No worries though, we can’t afford to go down with that ship, apparently history will repeat itself to some degree, only the incredibly wealthy will be able to experience this voyage.

So weird, I’ve never had any desire at all to get on a cruise ship until now.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I heard about this project years ago, must have forgotten during the hiatus. An intriguing concept sure to garner heaps of publicity and quickly sell out.

Never been on a cruise, but this is intriguing!!

Oh dear I hate to be the one to break it to you Allee but the Australian billionaire named in that report is notorious in these parts for talking big and never delivering. I can’t say too much else as he is also notorious for suing for defamation (sound familiar??!) and quite frankly I’d rather take my chances with the iceberg than on anything built by him!

Interesting concept and one (if ever completed) would almost guarantee be very popular.

I don't think I will ever go on a cruise though, especially a long one. I get queasy on the 20 minute ferry ride across lake Champlain when I visit family:26:

Thank you for the backstory, Martina! I can’t say I’m surprised it’s a sham, that’s easier to believe than the possibility of a second Titanic. Some moments in history should never be repeated.

That would be amazingly cool. And if ever completed, I would love a tour. :smile049:

With the exception of the exterior shell's appearance and the interiors appearance, they will be very different ships. The later will likely have pod drive units that both propel and steer the ship. Add dampening systems and the ride will be far more comfortable. Technology marches on and so does demands of banking, insurance and off-shore build and operation codes.

As so well stated, "if it gets built." To make that sailing timeline, the keel needs to be laid very early 2020, if not already underway. Current component building methods greatly reduces time, but, no build yard will start until the money is fully and firmly in place.

If if happens, I would recommend booking for year two or three after regular transit begins between England and the US.

Enjoy!

As many have said IF this boat gets built, we know they better have enough lifeboats this time!
