RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I cannot imagine the angst that accompanies the news of a hurricane barreling towards your home. Thankfully there is time to prepare and arrange evacuation as needed. (I know it is far from that easy)

Yeah, me I can handle, it's the five parrots and four dogs, that make things harder. I lost a roof two years ago, even though we were all safe, it's a stressful and financial drain... But every place has something, fire, flood, mudslides, earth Quakes volcano, dust storm..mother nature is in charge!!
But then my friend sent me this, to remind me of the good days the ocean brings us!!!!!!

Our New Orleans Meterologist showed the spaghetti model for this storm, but due to the high pressure over the south right now, of all things he's predicting a stall right over Orlando as a Cat 2 with 90 mph winds. Thats right over your area David, and Tami that would put your loved ones right at the eyewall there in Palm Bay. I lived right between your family and David there in Cocoa Beach for about 10 years. I'll keep y'all and your families in my prayers, I still have a lot of friends in that area. On a lighter note, if this thing takes a more northernly jog, it puts Orlando and Palm Bay on its dryer side. Also possibly keeps it out of the northern Gulf for further development, Because if it goes through Orlando back into the Gulf, it then has New Orleans right back in it's cross hairs. Here in New Orleans, there are two weeks of the year we deeply fear, and thats the last week of August and the first week of September, any storms usually developing in that time frame is magnetically attracted to New Orleans.

Two weeks ago the New Orleans sewage and waterboard pulled a car out of a drainage canal that was blocking the drainage of water, thus flooding neighborhoods, The S&WB superintendent had it all over the news, problem fixed, car was stolen in 2012, and ditched in the canal, couple days later it rained and flooded that area again with all the pumps working, so no telling now how many more cars, trucks or Semi's might still be in there.

Our meteorologist have it stalling over north Florida. It seems this storm is being difficul to forecast.they keep saying all of Florida has to be prepared.
I don't even know what to hope for, a faster storm, a smaller storm.
Headed out to prepare now...I'm feeling all will be ok ish but hav to prepare for that what iffs

Note: Much has changed in the last 24 hours and much has stayed the same. The same stuff does not help the changed part since the storm is estimated to become a "4" farther out in the Ocean and prior to passing over the Gulf Stream!

I'm not going to 'geek out' those who are in the projected path (which appears to be all of Central and upper South Florida). Florida residents have long histories with Hurricanes and that is both positive and negative. As you know, Cat 4's are seriously dangerous and areas even areas that do not normally flood can with a Cat 4, especially one that elects to hang around for awhile.
Yes, you have all heard it before, but you really want to leave or move to a Cat 5 spec structure! And as soon as possible! Now or already underway would be best. The longer you wait, the worst your chances are of finding a safer place, etc, etc, etc...
Areas that suffer Cat 4 Hurricanes have far more flatted structures than standing structures, remember that point if you are not sure whether to leave now for a safer place!!!
Big Amazon Feather Hugs and Prays that you will be safe!!!

In the past when hurricane are this strong they can maintain their strength for a long time. Wilma was a three, and went across the whole state and maintaining 3 category. This caught my brother and many others on the other side of the state off guard. A 3 took down my brothers condo community, he had to go to partial standing building during the hurricane, as his roof and walls came down. So much damage across the state and in his area it took red Cross two weeks to get them water, they had to drink pool water, and sleep outside. At ten days in he was able to call us and ask why help wasn't getting to them, we had to tell him they couldn't...the good thing is people banded together, shared food, restaurant in the area gave all their food away because power out...that was a category 3!!!!!! The news never really covers how long it takes to get help, after a few days or week they start covering other stories....
My good friend evacuated prior to Andrew, and the roads were so clogged they had to ride out the hurricane on the highway, granted they at least got far enough away that itvwasore tropical storm force...but there was no gass, no open hotels, no food or water available.
In my town, the whole place is sold out of water since yesterday, the news said there would be more water available today, so far that is not true as I just went to nearly every store in town, no water... Every hurricane is different, I've ridden out tropical storms, that were worse than a cat 1 hurricane.......
Anyway yes, evacuate now if you can and nesr the projected worst, ad inland hotels and holtels hundreds of miles away will fill up, and stick up for a week or two weeks , incase it takes that long.... Fema always says they are ready, they are not, every hurricane I hear if how long it took for basic help like water, and sheter to get to people who needed it...

Rember Southern Florida, as you evacuate up the state, you are going to have a hard time finding gass. Some of our gass stations are out of gass. Even if they get refueled , as you evacuate more and more places will be out. My prayers for everyone to ride it out safely, and that the worst hit, get help quickly.
