How is everyone on the east coast doing? Are you all safe?

We are far enough inland that we are the evacuation destination for most of our Savannah friends and family. Of Dorian shows up here I’ll show him a picture of my bird named Dorian and see if it convinces him to leave...

I'm very stressed. I'm not in an evacuate zone, but a big portion of my town is now.
Bless you for providing a haven for those in need!
I hope your bird brings us all good

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I have been following this massive storm closely on Weather Channel, watching it's slow moving track moving up the east coast of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Some "models" show it even grazing up here in New England next week  My heart goes out to the folks who are having to deal with this thing.
My heart hurts even worse for the pets! What does one do who have multiple pets?? Cats,Doggo's,Horseys..Pigs and Chickens..and BIRDS!! Put your horsey in the back seat? Your pot-bellied pig in the trunk??and your birdies in the passenger seat??
Florida is a nice place to vistit, been there many times, but I don't think I could live there:eek: I'll deal with the occasional blizzard tyvm. PLEASE BE SAFE PEOPLE!

One of my friends in the Savannah area has a 1 week old filly in addition to 3 adult horses and her other pets; they are bringing everyone they can into the house including the baby and her mamma!

I've been worried sick about the birds (wild and sheltered) in Dorian's path.

Fly, hide, be safe, dear birds.

Dorian Bird, get that swag ready!

You know how sometimes the thing you hate the most at the moment becomes something you are extremely thankful for?

Tonight I had heartburn so bad that I woke up already vomiting, my *absolute least favorite* pregnancy symptom! Thank God I did because I also smelled smoke once I was awake!

Someone had set a stack of towels on the stove in the chaos of all the extra people and animals and someone had also bumped a burner; the towels were on fire.

None of the people, dogs, or birds had woken but the whole front of the house was filled with smoke. No one was hurt and the only damage was to three towels. It appears our smoke detectors only detect shower steam, not actual smoke!

We are all fine, the birds seem fine if extremely annoyed, none of the kids woke up even with me hollering and the dogs (4 at the moment) barking. I’m shaken but thankful and you better believe we will be installing a new fire alarm system!

Me too! Full disclosure; there is at least a 90% chance I am the one who put the towels there, like a genius!

So glad you found the towels before any real harm was done. Time for new smoke detectors.
