Super random question but do the majority of you, who are employed, work from home? I was thinking about how annoyed my bird will be once the lockdowns lift (if they ever will) And i have to go bac to work. Do any of you work from home? What do you do? If possible id like to try and get a new job that allows me to work from home

I work from home. I run a team of programmers and analyst supporting hospitals. I like it because I get to see my feathered and furred brats all day. My team knows them all and Buddy has joined me on video calls. Itā€™s a good team booster.

What I wouldnā€™t give to have YOU as my boss. My dog and bird each made one unobtrusive appearance each for like 30 seconds, just quick head pops into the camera frame as they were in my lap with no discussions about them, and my boss went to my friend on our team to complain about how ā€œunprofessionalā€ I was being for having them on...and Iā€™m not in a particularly formal profession. My boss is an @$$ sometimes...

I have an office job working from home during the pandemic, trying to make it remote so I can relocate to Texas. But Iā€™m technically office based.

They seriously need to lighten up. Most of our calls have pets and kids. Everyone is understanding. I many times apologize for the snoring under my desk, English bulldog, and they laugh. I have to wear a head set because when Buddy hears voices he turns into a screaming Walmart door greater. But many of my coworkers have kids at home, we had one do a training presentation for us, others you can hear having a good time in another room, one was practicing her recorder, her Mom made it disappear. As far as unprofessional??? Cover the cameras, a few have had their camera on and we got to see how they really looked, messy bun, no makeup, definitely not work clothes lol! Managers need to go with it and laugh at unusual moments and be understanding.

I'm no longer working but I used to work from home as a legal transcriptionist. You have to LOVE typing and have impeccable grammar and punctuation. You could also do medical transcription, which may have less demand on the grammar/punctuation capabilities. They are actually easy to learn.

The office workplace has changed forever and I see little that will change it back to where is was prior to 2020. But, that said, there had already been a movement 'work from home' driven by the power of computers...

Sounds like your real interest is what profession best fits 'work from home'!

My education and life work is mechanical engineering and I truly enjoy it. Extensive travel across North America and all of Eastern and Western Europe, primarily working for European based Corporations. Their only requirement was that I was near an international airport and in the old days had a descent internet connection.

Your ability to demonstrate a high level of a joy of working is a very important part, as most people are not self-motivated.

So, what is your joy? What do you truly enjoy doing?

I'm retired, but studying at university for fun. Rosetta and the Beaks will sometimes 'enhance' my Zoom classes by joining in (that's what the 'Mute' button's for).

It's good to be available to my animals at all times. Works for them, works for me too! :)

I'm disabled, was a trucker for 30+ years. My brother is a software engineer (50 years) and works for a company that manufactures pressure gauges (Ashcroft) of all kinds..air..gas..fluids, for oil/gas companies and areospace. He designs/builds programs for the equipment that make the gauges.

During the height of the pandemic he worked from home, having video conferences a couple times a week with his crew. My computer is about 5 feet from his. At times BB would be on me as David held his conference and flap over to his shoulder and start with his wolf whistling/singing/chirping..his crew would get a kick out of it lol. David's cat ( rip missy) would be under his desk meowing away (loudly) and they could hear her too. Amy would be on his play pen in the living room yelling HELLO! WHAT'CHA DOING? and they'd ask "who the heck is that??" Others had their doggo's with them. One guy even had his bunny on the desk :18: It was all good :)

These stories are so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I got the Rb, I was in college. The entirety of my life since then has had to weave itself around his needs. There were office jobs, traveling jobs, part-time jobs... and finally, retirement. And plenty of time to frolic in the Forums!

The Rb and I have been together since 1984. That's 36-plus years!! He was 3 months old; I was... uhhh... young. Rival appeared a few years later.
Yep, the Rb made a few appearances at the Blessings of the Animals over the years. It was a running joke with the priests that he actually needs an EXORCISM.

So I guess you can run, but you can't hide, GC44!
