Today, payday... *cough* I purchased these two baby boy Zebra Finches. I couldn't resist, they were the last two, and having a spare budgie cage I thought what the hell! :p

Hehe, I actually adore them they are just so happy and cute and easy! I am hoping their singing and chirping will brighten up my household! :) Damien has yet to know they exist, he will meet them tomorrow. I do hope they don't offend him, lol!

(Left, Dempsey. Right, Winston in attachment)

Cuteness!!! I had a pair when I was reallllllly young and they flew away, when I was giving food and water, they got a fright as I was closing the door they got out.

Nontheless, Im a great fan of finches and owned some canaries too a few years back.

Has anyone on here have a tame or tried taming these guys before?

I have just re-homed 10 finches. They came from a pet shop that closed. I gave them to a friend who is a finch fancier, and has a converted gazebo into aviary in his garden. He also has cages in his house with so many beautiful varieties. Finches are not very trainable, but, will become tame enough to hold. But, their antics, and constant peeping & jabbering is so charming. Plus, there are so many beautiful different species. Zebras, Lady Gouldians, Star finches, Parsons, Owl finches , Split tails, Fire finches, Waxbills, and on & on...

This video has been floating around the internet (mostly in .gif form) for a little while.
However I think most tame zebra finches just think they're human hands. They're not exactly the smartest birds.

I love zebra finches, just he cutest little things. I had a pair of white ones for a long time. A vendor at one of the bird shows didn't want to pack them up and truck em all the way back home so he gave them to me. lol.
They make the sweetest little beeps.
