One of the residents here at the group home had company. and they asked me about the birds. Well First I brought out Chewy because that is usualy the bird people ask to see. Well They ooohed and awwed over him and didn't do much other then that.
So I put him on his cage, I donj't usually make him go into his cage, except for night time. OR if I am gone. Then I put him in his cage. And Got Eli and Little Foot out. And went back to the people.
Well anyways They were much more interested in Eli and Little Foot. They asked all kind of questions. While we talked bout them I let a little girl, who knows to just hold him hold him. And she enjoyed that.
Then one of the sisters, the company, wanted to hold one. So I had to take Eli back from the girl,b ecause Little foot is asnob. But It all worked out good. Eli was the perfect gentleman. He wistled Mayberry. I asked him too, aka attempted to whistle it too him. And he did it!!! I Was soooooo proud of him. Then he made kissy face noises and talked to her. Then the girl told her to pet him, I told her don't pet him he'll bite you. Then I took him because he tried to nip her or so I thought, then the lady said no he dind't bite me....so that was good.

That's good.

I think fid/human exposure is a great thing. I took Keupi into classrooms with great success (and with Mom - a science teacher, worked it into a great lesson on the neurological system).

The thing is, you need to be in control of that situation. You are responsible for your fids behavior to the 'class' and at the same time you are responsible to your fid for every interaction the class has with your fid. Most people are not afraid of a bird, they're afraid of the beak/bite. The problem is that the beak, to a fid, is like a thumb to a human - most use and need it to move and sense. What's strange is that what many fids do naturally scare many humans. When walking, climbing, exploring - it's beak first. It's not threatening in any way to a fid, but threating to many humans (beak - will bite - bad bird).

I think it's wonderful that the home wants to know, see, and learn about your fids. However, I'd also, for at least the near future rule out interaction between your fids and the group.

Hey thats great, Thats great that they were so taken with Eli and Little foot, so often the little guys get overlooked when they see a larger parrot. I'm glad that things worked out so well. :D
