Kiwi - green cheek conure
Tyson, zoey, sunny - cockatiels
Boss, blue - parakeets
My cockatiel was out of the cage today I found her under the cage and she laid an egg. She has been with the male stays in the same cage sometimes and with the green cheek she came with sometimes. (she gets around) I don't really have anything to use as a nesting box right now. I put her and the egg in a 5 gallon tank with no top for tonight. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do with her. kittens and puppy's I know.... New to eggs! :white1:

I would put her back into her normal cage with the egg. Leave the egg there for about 3 weeks until she loses interest in it so she doesn't continue laying. Also make sure she has a cuttle bone or mineral block so she can get all the calcium she needs.

It is possible the egg is fertilized since you have a male cockatiel. If she doesn't incubate it though, it's not going to hatch. She can't breed with the conure.

Hi, Further to Roxy-------------s post I would cut an inch and a half from the bottom of a plastic jug and cover the bottom with shreded paper these work well when you find and unexpected egg on a cage floor. Weather copulation has taken place or not she will lay a few more eggs, If she sets on them you can see and embrio by candeling quite early. If you do and want me to text back with what you know about the adults genetics and I'll tell you what the probable young will look like. Good luck this is the best part of having parrots. D.D.
