Wasn't sure where I would put this. :p

Anyway what does your fids love/hate? Or what does it love to do?
Do they love/hate a certain food? A certain person? A certain thing?

Yuki loves to try and chew of my finger nails like a nail clipper would do. She also hates anyone's right thumb. Not the left thumb only the right.

Alex loves to talk to the cat. They meow at each other all the time. Every time he hears the cat meowing and can see her. He meows back. I try to get a video of it but he goes quite and so does the cat. It makes me wonder what are they planning?
Alex hates this monkey soft/plush toy.

Slushy my lovebird loves to pull my keyboard keys off. My other birds haven't tried it or don't look interested in doing so. But it seems to be Slushy's number 1 goal.

Flynn just loves to follow the other birds around. He would feed them, preen them and so on. Atm he is keen on being with Alex.

Those are just a few things my fids do. :p
There are more. But I can't just think of any on the spot.

Well , Crackers my GCC is obsessed with the keys on my keyboard .....She can pop them off in nothing flat. She absolutely hates her flight suit....SO , I lay the flight suit on my keyboard and she stays away...lol Also, if you get a glass of water, she thinks she needs to bathe in it . So you have to keep your glass covered so you don"t get bird scrubies in your water.
She also adores being with me or my kids , Just sitting on our shoulders or head , all day is we would let her : )
Cosmo , my TAG loves head scritches , chewing on my couch and barking with the dogs and he also loves for crackers to preen his neck. He hates for me to spray him with water when it's bath time and he hates his flight suit too!
I can't imagine my life without these feathered kids : )

They sound lovely.
I just love how Crackers tries to bathe in your glass of water. :p
Sounds so cute :p

Chewing on the couch is a favorite of all my fids. Flynn and Slushy love scritches.
Slushy my lovebird loves children, he is so well behaved. :D
He really loves to play with them, he also gives them kisses and tries to play with their teeth.

I also can't imagine my life without my fids.

My Eccie LOVES to tap on things then listen to the noise. In particular a black champagne flute. He is also obsessed with spiral pasta. I mean obsessed. He loves showers and the hairdryer. And also our red laundry bucket.
He has a peculiar fondness for my bras. I give him my old ones and it keeps him entertained for hours!

He HATES with a passion borne in the seventh circle of hell anything fluffy. He will spend hours growling and attacking and im sure in his mind killing any soft toy, towel, microfibre cloth that dares to usurp into his territory (which is our whole house haha).

Oh Ash alexs are lovely birds arent they? Mine was an amazing talker. Nice to see another kiwi here!!

p.s. DO you find it funny so many of these americans call their birds kiwi? Its probably because they call kiwifruit kiwis and lots of birds are green, but it stioll makes me smile. If only they knew haha

Sassy loves to be nosey.. If someone is cooking, she knows it. If she sees the food she wants it. Spoiled rotten.. lol She also likes a game of Inside the Shirt. I pull a big T shirt over my head, while she is on my leg. I than lift the other end near my belly and say, Here Sassy... She crawls off my leg and inside my shirt. I pet her wings and she gets excited. Than she crawls up to my collar and comes out.

What Sassy hates is being left out at meal time. I mean, she looks forward to eating noodles, cheese, cereal, bread, beans, a cracker, vegies, ect.. That really makes her day, to be fed when we eat. Being left out causes depressed feelings.

My Alex's LOVE spiral pasta. They will do anything for them. I taught Alex a few tricks and when he sees me with the pasta he goes nuts. He does all his little tricks :p

All of mine hate the shower, they prefer the hose, a spray bath or just there water bowl.

That's how Alex acts around that monkey toy. He doesn't mind others. He just hates that monkey with a passion.

Yes I find that Alexs are very lovely, beautiful and smart. Alex is becoming a very good talker. They are VERY clear talkers. I also find it funny americans calling their birds kiwi. :p

I also think its great to see another kiwi here :D

Sassy sounds like a real character. :D
Btw she is beautiful.

Well since I have only had her two weeks I am still in the honeymoon phase with bella my red rump parakeet. but so far she loves to hang out with the computer speaker and make some really different calls that are apparently only used during her "speaker time". in fact the pictures I posted of her were during her speaker time. she can also hear and recognize the sound of a rice crispy treat being opened anywhere in the house and she WILL find it to get her fair share.
the only things I have ever seen her give a negative reaction to are the dogs. all dogs must learn their place. now the dogs (3 of them) know better then to even look at daddy's baby wrong and will high tail it if the bird gets too close so they dont get in trouble. bella of course believes she ran them off and you can almost see the pride and arrogance in her eyes.
disclaimer: bella is currently being weaned off of her rice crispy treat addiction and a full recovery is expected, and she is never ever allowed to get anywhere near a dog without me right there and a hand inches away from each animal.

:):)heheh i can just see her strutting with pride at intimidating those dogs...

OH! in regards to the kiwi thing.................Our national symbol is the Kiwi. So much in facts that we dont say "im a new zealander" but "im a Kiwi!".

Its a large (about the size of a rugby....sorry, football) flightless, nocturnal, insect eating, circular bird that lives in a burrow underground (yep, no idea why we picked it, but hey)

So, we only ever say "Kiwi" when we are referring to ourselves, or very rarely, the bird.

We would never call a Kiwifruit a Kiwi - thats just crazy talk!!! I know - I grew up on a kiwifruit orchard, my family are all kiwis but we had lots of kiwis running around the bush (sorry, the woods):D

Its just funny seeing your whole national identity naming conures (and cute too). Im thinking of naming my next bird "American". Just for fun!!:D

This is a kiwi - But a very weird one. Usually they are asleep in their burrows during the day!

ah yes I am familiar with the kiwi bird. never met one but I am familiar with what they are. I was going to make some politically incorrect jokes about a bird named "american" ( and they were very funny too! ) but thats a slippery slope probably best avoided. lol

A wise decision I think!!
Us kiwis are a pretty laid back bunch, no one will be upset at being compared to a furry brown fruit!!!

" Im thinking of naming my next bird "American". Just for fun!!:D"

Yankee has a better ring to it. For Latinos, it's Gringo. As for parrots, our only native, the Carolina Parakeet, went extinct near a hundred years ago, thanks to the popularity of its feathers.

Your birds are an great study, in that they don't fly, reportedly because there are no predators to escape from. Clipping the wings of a pet bird is an interesting parallel.

I spent a month one week on North Island NZ many years ago. When people asked about it, I said it was just like California, but with rain, and without people. It was idyllic. Sorry for the drift. Would love to go back.

As for love/hate, the last few days Greybeard has gone on the attack against me. He bit a finger while I was napping, and my response was memorable... He learned some new words right there.

He was called "Grumpy Girl" at the bird store before we bought him, but for us he has been pure pleasure.

Gosh you are very well informed!

Yep we had a pretty special place alright. Bird paradise!! We had no mammals whatsoever, so all the ecological niches that were filled with mammals like mice, rabbits, etc etc were all filled by birds.

We had little flightless ones that acted like mice, we have huge, flightless, alpine parrots, we had crazy Moa (3 times the size of an emu) and also a predatory eagle that used to eat the Moa - yep, big enough to swoop and take them, The theory is when the first Maori turned up they hunted the Moa till extinction - the eagles tried to survive on the Maori for a while but no go - they went to.

When the European settlers came with the mammals, rats, cats, stoats, etc etc - you can imagine what happened to the bird population that had no natural predators.

We still have some amazing ones left - I love the Kea and the Kakapo.

It is a pretty amazing place here - we have more space than the UK yet only 4 million people. And 2 million of them are in one city. There is plenty of room!!

If you are interested there is an excellent david attenborough doco about NZ birds.

Another feature of kiwis is that we all travel. We call it the OE - (overseas experience)- its a very common right of passage - when you are so isolated, you want to get out and see the world!! (I havnt made it to the states yet though)

Come back! We would love to see you!!:D

Codie loves to sit on the leg of my Computer Chair, just so she can be near me lol...

She also loves to bite my nails... if she had the chance, I am sure she would pull them off :11:

The only Fruit she will eat is Grapes and Blueberries! but she loves all Veggies. Her favourite Food is Brown Rice and Pasta... If I dont put Rice in with her Veggies each day, then she has a tantrum and starts throwing things

Also, in the morning I have to put a Walnut cracked in Half in her dish.. again if I dont do this, then she throws things in temper!

They know what they like and what they dont like LOL

Forrest -Yellow sided Green Cheek Conure, Nacho- Sun Conure
LOVES:
Forrest loves to eat with us, take showers with me (everyday), play behind my computer monitor, or dance on the keys when I'm typing. On the laptop loves to perch on top while I surf. Loves to be on my shoulder while I put on makeup or do my hair. He loves to watch Marc Marone while sitting on my shoulder, (he likes me to watch it too). If I leave he flies to my shoulder and bites me on the neck, hence to say" come sit with me and watch it with me. " He likes to drink from my glass and flip the ice around. He loves to ride on my shoulder when I vacuum. He loves to call me from the other room by saying "baby" and "I love you" He loves his Jungle talk telephone. He always loves to go to his cage after a shower until he dries out.

HATES: He hates when I put cream in my coffee, he comes down and pinches my arm over and over. He hates the poop off bottle, attacks it as soon as I pick it up. In fact he hates all spray bottles. He hates flashlights.. He hates when I touch his food bowl when he is eating. The first hour out of his cage is his time on the back of the couch, doesn't want to be taken away. But right now, he is on the couch in the other room saying "Baby" and " I Love you" which means I need to come get him and bring him to the computer.

He is a wonderful little guy with a very set routine and doesn't like that routine challenged. He is very good though when I have to leave for a couple hours and is very polite in his cage. He knows as soon as I return he will be free again.

Cameo & Tasha Hmmmmm!!!! Where do I begin.
Cameo is more sociable than Tasha but Tasha dominates my office. They both love to take showers with me and have taken both at the same time. That was fun. Cameo hates the spray bottle. Cameo wants to eat dinner with us while Tasha could care less. Cameo likes to cuddle but will have enough and want to go explore while Tasha will sit for an hour on my lap or on my chest as long as I am petting her. Tasha likes to take the keys off my key board while Cameo loves to play with the window blinds draw strings. Cameo wants to dig a hole in our leather sofa. When the weather is good they both love to sit outside on the back patio. I keep them in the shade with plenty of water and a few snacks. They both love to watch the wild birds coming and going from the bird bath and feeders.

Cameo hates the lawn mower and will bark like the neighbors dag at it while I am cutting the grass. Tasha could care less. Hates to take the medication I used to have to give her. Cameo does not like the aviary leash I got for them while Tasha loves to go for a walk with it on. Tasha wants to pull the hair on my forearms just to annoy me while I am working. Tasha will spent as much time as she can in the waist paper basket in my office. So if I can`t find her I look in there first now.

House and Wilson-Lineolated Parakeet Brothers
House loves biting freckles and moles, attacking the keyboard, and my iphone. He loves exploring and crawling into anything he can. He tolerates spray baths. He hates when my son comes up to the cage and shows him various toys. He is always screaming alert calls at various things such as the vaccuum, power cords and my toddler. He loves eating rice with peas, carrots, corn and spaghetti.

Wilson loves sitting on my shoulder or on the back of the couch looking out the window, talking and chattering away. He LOVES kisses, when I sing and spray baths. He HATES stepping up and getting him in and out of the cage can sometimes be challenging. They both love nutriberries and millet for treats.

I just love the Kea, :)

It's odd what things birds hate.

My Alexandrines love watching me play on the xbox 360. You can just see it in them.
