Personality - Senegals

My Senegal is very chatty and makes noises all day long. Some loud whistles...but not too bad. He does not like to have his head scratched but will sit on my shoulder nicely except for close to bedtime then he considers my ear chomping food! :32:
The more different things you expose your bird to when he is young the better adjusted he will be and accept changes much better.
Here is what Parsley can say so far...he seems to be receptive to learning new words and phrases easily. I am trying to think of what else I can teach him to say!

Jez....my Senegal is not nippy usually. Sometimes when he is ready for bed he will get a little crabby. But most of the time he is really good!
Each Senegal is different in personality and if you get one that is older or has learned some bad habits from previous owners...then you could encounter more nippy problems. And it depends on how you handle the bird too.
I got Parsley when he was young and I was his first owner so there were no previous learned behaviors. That is one advantage of getting a young bird....they usually will adjust to the rhythm of your home easier than an older bird with past owners.

I know what you mean, my Lovebird did the same. When it was bedtime or near it, he would tug on my ear a bit...
I'm so confused - can't decide what to get! I'm making another trip to the parrot store today! Wish me luck!

i have a 1 yr old sennie and hes pretty quiet unless my mom comes in the room since he hates my mom. They're one person birds meaning they'll usually only bond with one person and everyone else can go away.Kayto will usually tolerate most people, but if its my mom he screams until she leaves and cant hear her voice or see her. Don't get me wrong they're awesome birds. Kayto lays on his back, makes cool sounds, and is awesommmee. Kayto usually isnt nippy, sometimes if hes been out too long or is tired he can get a little cranky but other than that hes a pretty cool bird.
