Hi All,

I have several Bourkii's in my Australian aviary and they are delightful birds that have never caused me any problems.

One of them though is just such a scruffy and messy bird and i'm getting embarrassed to show her to people!

I spray all of the birds in athe aviary regulary with plume spray and though the other birds might not be "Show quality" they heave neatly preened feathers.

I have sprayed this one extra but I just don't know what to do about the way she looks! She is in good health and behaves just like the other bourkies although it appears her Rosa mutation isn't as prevalent

Is there a better spray I could use on her that other recommend? Or is this just bad breeding that made her this yay?

Picture of her sitting next to another bourkie for comparison attached. please note especially the tail feathers, crest and the side of the wings

Looks to me like she either over preens to an extreme, or more so imo that there is some genetic mix up similar to the "feather duster" budgies. Looks like the feathers are growing with curves, probably a mitation of some sort. Interesting though, and Im not sure but that would be my guess.

Could be genetic or over preening, can be hard to tell...
She, or he, is of the normal colour variety though :)
